Safety

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Bugatti Tourbillon are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Ferrari 12Cilindri doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Bugatti Tourbillon has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The 12Cilindri doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Tourbillon has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The 12Cilindri doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

Both the Tourbillon and the 12Cilindri have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding and rearview cameras.

The Bugatti Tourbillon weighs 498 pounds more than the Ferrari 12Cilindri. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

The Tourbillon comes with a full 4-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car. The 12Cilindri’s 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

Engine

The Tourbillon’s 8.3 DOHC V16 hybrid produces 956 more horsepower (1775 vs. 819) and 533 lbs.-ft. more torque (1033 vs. 500) than the 12Cilindri’s 6.5 DOHC V12.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Tourbillon can travel with zero emissions for 37 miles. The 12Cilindri can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Tourbillon’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The 12Cilindri doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Tourbillon has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The 12Cilindri doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

Drivetrain

All wheel drive, available in the Tourbillon, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Ferrari 12Cilindri is not available with all wheel drive.

Brakes and Stopping

The Tourbillon has standard air brakes, which adjust the rear spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The 12Cilindri doesn’t offer air brakes.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Tourbillon has larger tires than the 12Cilindri (F:285/35R20 & R:345/30R21 vs. F:275/35R21 & R:315/35R21).

The Tourbillon’s 345/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 12Cilindri’s 35 series tires.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Tourbillon’s wheelbase is 1.5 inches longer than on the 12Cilindri (107.8 inches vs. 106.3 inches).

Chassis

The Tourbillon is 7.4 inches shorter than the 12Cilindri, making the Tourbillon easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
