Compare the2025 Mazda CX-70VS 2025 Cadillac Optiq

The CX-70 Premium has a standard Secondary Collision Reduction System, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Optiq doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Both the CX-70 and the Optiq have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Mazda CX-70 achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2024 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, and pedestrian crash prevention testing. The Optiq has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Mazda vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Mazda above average in long-term dependability. With 5 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Cadillac is rated below average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Mazda vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Mazda 9 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

The CX-70 PHEV’s standard 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid produces 23 more horsepower (323 vs. 300) and 15 lbs.-ft. more torque (369 vs. 354) than the Optiq’s electric motors. The CX-70 Turbo S’ standard 3.3 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid produces 40 more horsepower (340 vs. 300) and 15 lbs.-ft. more torque (369 vs. 354) than the Optiq’s electric motors.

The CX-70 has a standard locking fuel door which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Optiq doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank and a locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

For better stopping power the CX-70’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Optiq:

For better traction, the CX-70 has larger standard tires than the Optiq (265/55R19 vs. 245/50R20).

The CX-70 has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Optiq; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the CX-70’s wheelbase is 6.5 inches longer than on the Optiq (122.8 inches vs. 116.3 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the CX-70 is 3.1 inches wider in the front and 67.2 inches wider in the rear than on the Optiq.

For better maneuverability, the CX-70’s turning circle is 1.7 feet tighter than the Optiq’s (38.1 feet vs. 39.8 feet).

For greater off-road capability the CX-70 has a 2 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Optiq (8 vs. 6 inches), allowing the CX-70 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The CX-70 Turbo S/PHEV’s minimum ground clearance is 2.1 inches higher than on the Optiq (8.1 vs. 6 inches).

The Mazda CX-70 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 350 pounds less than the Cadillac Optiq.

The CX-70 has 40.6 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Optiq (141.6 vs. 101).

The CX-70 has .1 inches more front headroom, .1 inches more front legroom, 1.2 inches more front hip room, 2.2 inches more front shoulder room, .6 inches more rear headroom, 1.6 inches more rear legroom, 4.5 inches more rear hip room and 2.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the Optiq.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the CX-70’s rear seats recline. The Optiq’s rear seats don’t recline.

The CX-70’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Optiq’s (3500 vs. 1500 pounds). Maximum trailer towing in the Cadillac Optiq is only 1500 pounds. The CX-70 offers up to a 5000 lbs. towing capacity.

A Maintenance Monitor is standard on the CX-70 to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for oil changes and tire rotation based on actual driving conditions. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Cadillac doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Optiq.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the CX-70 has a standard rear wiper. The Optiq doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Optiq’s optional cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The CX-70 Turbo S’ standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.
