Safety
Warranty
The XT4 comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck. The CX-70’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The XT4’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the CX-70’s (6 vs. 5 years).
Reliability
J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Cadillac vehicles are better in initial quality than Mazda vehicles. With 18 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Cadillac higher than Mazda.
Fuel Economy and Range
An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the XT4’s fuel efficiency. The CX-70 doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.
The XT4 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The CX-70 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.
Transmission
A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Cadillac XT4, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the CX-70.
Brakes and Stopping
The XT4 stops much shorter than the CX-70:

Tires and Wheels
The XT4 has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The CX-70 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.
Suspension and Handling
The XT4 offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The CX-70’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.
The XT4 Sport AWD handles at .89 G’s, while the CX-70 PHEV Premium Plus pulls only .82 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.
The XT4 Sport AWD executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the CX-70 PHEV Premium Plus (26.3 seconds @ .66 average G’s vs. 26.9 seconds @ .66 average G’s).
Chassis
The Cadillac XT4 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1150 to 1300 pounds less than the Mazda CX-70.
The XT4 is 1 foot, 7.9 inches shorter than the CX-70, making the XT4 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
The front grille of the XT4 (except with towing package) uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The CX-70 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.
The XT4 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The CX-70 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.
As tested by Car and Driver, the interior of the XT4 Sport AWD is quieter than the CX-70 PHEV Premium Plus:

Passenger Space
The XT4 has 2.4 inches more front legroom and .1 inches more rear legroom than the CX-70.
Cargo Capacity
A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the XT4. The CX-70 doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.
Servicing Ease
J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Cadillac service is better than Mazda. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac fifth in service department satisfaction. With a 22% lower rating, Mazda is ranked 14th.
Ergonomics
The XT4’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The CX-70 does not have an oil pressure gauge.
The XT4’s standard Keyless Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Advanced Keyless Entry and Start standard on the CX-70 doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.
The XT4’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The CX-70’s power window (except driver window) switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.
The Cadillac XT4 has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors are only offered on the CX-70 Premium Plus/Turbo S.
The XT4 offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the CX-70.
The Cadillac XT4 has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the overhead console. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Homelink® is only available on the CX-70 Premium.
The XT4’s available Automatic Park Assist can parallel park by itself, starting and stopping automatically, with the driver only responsible for switching from reverse to drive. The CX-70’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park.
Model Availability
The XT4 is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The CX-70 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
