Compare the2025 Cadillac CT5VS 2024 Maserati Ghibli

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the CT5 are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Ghibli doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Cadillac CT5 has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Ghibli doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The CT5 has standard Reverse Automatic Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Ghibli doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

Both the CT5 and Ghibli have rear cross-traffic warning, but the CT5 has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Ghibli’s Rear Cross Path doesn’t automatically brake.

The CT5’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Ghibli doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the CT5 and the Ghibli have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and available all wheel drive.

Cadillac’s powertrain warranty covers the CT5 2 years and 20,000 miles longer than Maserati covers the Ghibli. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Ghibli ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

The CT5’s corrosion warranty is 2 years and unlimited miles longer than the Ghibli’s (6/unlimited vs. 4/50,000).

There are over 5 times as many Cadillac dealers as there are Maserati dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the CT5’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the CT5’s reliability 15 points higher than the Ghibli.

On the EPA test cycle the CT5 gets better mileage than the Ghibli:

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the CT5’s fuel efficiency. The Ghibli doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Cadillac CT5 higher (5 to 7 out of 10) than the Maserati Ghibli (1 to 3). This means the CT5 produces up to 47 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Ghibli every 15,000 miles.

A 10-speed automatic is standard on the Cadillac CT5, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Ghibli.

For better traction, the CT5’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Ghibli (255/35R20 vs. 245/40R20).

The CT5 has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Ghibli doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the CT5 can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Ghibli doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

The Cadillac CT5 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 500 pounds less than the Maserati Ghibli.

The front grille of the CT5 uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Ghibli doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The CT5 has .2 inches more front headroom, 4.7 inches more front legroom and 4.7 inches more rear legroom than the Ghibli.

The CT5 has a 1000 lbs. towing capacity. The Ghibli has no towing capacity.

The CT5 offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, tachometer, navigation instruction, infotainment and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Ghibli doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

If the windows are left open on the CT5 the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Ghibli can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The CT5’s standard Keyless Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the trunk, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Keyless Entry and Go standard on the Ghibli doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The CT5’s LED headlights produce a white, bright light using less electricity than the Ghibli’s standard xenon high intensity discharge (HID) headlights. HID headlights can be slow to reach full brightness or power cycle, causing issues when flashing them to signal other vehicles; LED headlights light instantly. LED lights also last about three to four times as long.

Consumer Reports rated the CT5’s headlight performance “Good,” a higher rating than the Ghibli’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the CT5 has standard extendable sun visors. The Ghibli doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The CT5 has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Ghibli.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Cadillac CT5 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Ghibli.

The CT5’s Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting and stopping automatically, with the driver only responsible for switching from reverse to drive. The Ghibli doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
