The X6 M’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The F-Pace doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the X6 M are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The BMW X6 M has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The F-Pace doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The X6 M has standard Active Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The X6 M has a standard PostCrash iBrake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The X6 M has a standard Active Park Distance Control that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The F-Pace doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

Compared to metal, the X6 M’s plastic fuel tank can withstand harder, more intrusive impacts without leaking; this decreases the possibility of fire. The Jaguar F-Pace has a metal gas tank.

Both the X6 M and the F-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The BMW X6 M weighs 840 to 1360 pounds more than the Jaguar F-Pace. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The X6 M’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the F-Pace’s (12 vs. 6 years).

There are over 84 percent more BMW dealers than there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the X6 M’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that BMW vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks BMW above average in long-term dependability. With 5 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Jaguar is rated below average.

The X6 M’s 4.4 turbo V8 hybrid produces 371 more horsepower (617 vs. 246) and 284 lbs.-ft. more torque (553 vs. 269) than the F-Pace P250’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The X6 M’s 4.4 turbo V8 hybrid produces 222 more horsepower (617 vs. 395) and 147 lbs.-ft. more torque (553 vs. 406) than the F-Pace R-Dynamic S’ standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid. The X6 M’s 4.4 turbo V8 hybrid produces 75 more horsepower (617 vs. 542) and 37 lbs.-ft. more torque (553 vs. 516) than the F-Pace SVR’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8.

The X6 M has a standard locking fuel door which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the F-Pace. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

The X6 M’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The F-Pace doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction, the X6 M has larger tires than the F-Pace (F:295/35R21 & R:315/30R22 vs. 255/55R19). The X6 M’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the F-Pace (F:295/35R21 & R:315/30R22 vs. F:265/45R21 & R:295/40R21).

The X6 M’s 295/35R21 front and 315/30R22 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the F-Pace’s standard 55 series tires. The X6 M’s tires are lower profile than the F-Pace SVR’s optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the X6 M has standard 21-inch front and 22-inch rear wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the F-Pace.

The X6 M has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The F-Pace doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the X6 M uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the F-Pace, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The X6 M offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Jaguar doesn’t offer an active suspension on the F-Pace.

The X6 M has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The X6 M’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the X6 M’s wheelbase is 3.9 inches longer than on the F-Pace (117 inches vs. 113.1 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the X6 M is 2.2 inches wider in the front and 1.3 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the F-Pace.

The X6 M has .1 inches more front legroom, 2.3 inches more front shoulder room and 1.9 inches more rear shoulder room than the F-Pace.

The X6 M’s rear cargo window opens separately from the rest of the tailgate door to allow quicker loading of small packages. The F-Pace’s rear cargo window doesn’t open.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that BMW service is better than Jaguar. J.D. Power ranks BMW 7th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With an 8% lower rating, Jaguar is ranked 10th.

The X6 M’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the F-Pace, and is not available on all models.

The X6 M’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The F-Pace’s power mirror switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the X6 M has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The F-Pace doesn’t offer cornering lights. The X6 M also has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the X6 M has standard extendable sun visors. The F-Pace doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the X6 M to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The F-Pace doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The X6 M has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the F-Pace.

The X6 M’s Parking Assistant Professional can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Control Parking will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The F-Pace SVR’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park and it doesn’t offer remote control parking.

The BMW X6 outsold the Jaguar F-Pace by over two to one during 2022.
