Compare the2022 Bugatti ChironVS 2021 Mercedes AMG GT

The Chiron has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The Chiron has a standard 360 degree parking monitor to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Mercedes AMG GT only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Chiron and the Mercedes AMG GT have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

The Bugatti Chiron weighs 406 to 882 pounds more than the Mercedes AMG GT. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Chiron has 6.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the Mercedes AMG GT (26.4 vs. 19.8 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

All wheel drive, available in the Chiron, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Mercedes AMG GT is not available with all wheel drive.

For better stopping power the Chiron’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Mercedes AMG GT:

The Chiron has standard air brakes, which adjust the spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer air brakes.

For better traction, the Chiron has larger tires than the Mercedes AMG GT (F:285/30R20 & R:355/25R21 vs. F:255/35R19 & R:295/30R19).

The Chiron’s 285/30R20 front and 355/25R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series front and 25 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Mercedes AMG GT’s standard 35 series front and 30 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Chiron has standard 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Mercedes AMG GT Coupe. The Mercedes AMG GT’s largest wheels are only 19-inches in the front and 20-inches in the rear.

The Chiron has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Chiron’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Chiron’s wheelbase is 3.2 inches longer than on the Mercedes AMG GT (106.7 inches vs. 103.5 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Chiron is 2.6 inches wider in the front than the average track on the Mercedes AMG GT.

The Chiron Sport handles at 1.06 G’s, while the Mercedes AMG GT Coupe pulls only 1.05 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Chiron’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Mercedes AMG GT does not have an oil pressure gauge.
