Compare the2023 Bugatti ChironVS 2022 Porsche 911

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Chiron. But it costs extra on the 911.

Both the Chiron and the 911 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

The Bugatti Chiron weighs 408 to 1272 pounds more than the Porsche 911. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Chiron has 9.5 gallons more fuel capacity than the 911’s standard fuel tank (26.4 vs. 16.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The Chiron has 2.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the 911’s optional fuel tank (26.4 vs. 23.7 gallons).

For better stopping power the Chiron’s brake rotors are larger than those on the 911:

The Chiron has standard air brakes, which adjust the spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The 911 doesn’t offer air brakes.

For better traction, the Chiron has larger tires than the 911 (F:285/30R20 & R:355/25R21 vs. F:235/40R19 & R:295/35R20). The Chiron’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the 911 (F:285/30R20 & R:355/25R21 vs. F:255/35R20 & R:315/30R21).

The Chiron’s 285/30R20 front and 355/25R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series front and 25 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 911’s standard 40 series front and 35 series rear tires. The Chiron’s tires are lower profile than the 911’s optional 35 series front and 30 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Chiron has standard 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. Smaller 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are standard on the 911.

The Chiron has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Chiron’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The 911 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Chiron’s wheelbase is 10.2 inches longer than on the 911 (106.7 inches vs. 96.5 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Chiron is 6.3 inches wider in the front and 3.8 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the 911.

The Chiron’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (43% to 57%) than the 911’s (39.5% to 60.5%). This gives the Chiron more stable handling and braking.

The Chiron Sport handles at 1.06 G’s, while the 911 Carrera 4 GTS pulls only 1.03 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.
