Compare the2023 Bugatti ChironVS 2020 McLaren Senna

The Chiron has standard head airbag curtains which act as a forgiving barrier between the driver and outboard passenger's upper bodies and the window and pillars. Combined with high-strength steel door beams and lower side airbags this system increases head protection in broadside collisions. The Senna doesn't offer side airbag protection for the head.

The Chiron has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Senna doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

Both the Chiron and the Senna have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding and daytime running lights.

The Bugatti Chiron weighs 1136 to 1336 pounds more than the McLaren Senna. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts. Crosswinds also affect lighter cars more.

The Chiron’s standard 8.0 turbo 16-cylinder produces 690 more horsepower (1479 vs. 789) and 590 lbs.-ft. more torque (1180 vs. 590) than the Senna’s 4.0 turbo V8. The Chiron Super Sport’s standard 8.0 turbo 16-cylinder produces 789 more horsepower (1578 vs. 789) and 590 lbs.-ft. more torque (1180 vs. 590) than the Senna’s 4.0 turbo V8.

As tested in Car and Driver the Bugatti Chiron 8.0 is faster than the McLaren Senna:

All wheel drive, available in the Chiron, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The McLaren Senna is not available with all wheel drive.

For better stopping power the Chiron’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Senna:

For better traction, the Chiron has larger tires than the Senna (F:285/30R20 & R:355/25R21 vs. F:245/35R19 & R:315/30R20).

The Chiron’s 285/30R20 front and 355/25R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series front and 25 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Senna’s standard 35 series front and 30 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Chiron has standard 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. Only 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are available on the Senna.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Chiron’s wheelbase is 1.7 inches longer than on the Senna (106.7 inches vs. 105 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Chiron is 3.8 inches wider in the front and 1.7 inches wider in the rear than on the Senna.

The Chiron is 7.9 inches shorter than the Senna, making the Chiron easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

As tested by Car and Driver, the interior of the Chiron Sport is quieter than the Senna:

When three different drivers share the Chiron, the optional memory seats make it convenient for all three. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver’s seat position. The Senna doesn’t offer memory seats.

The Chiron’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Senna does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The Chiron’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Senna’s available power window controls are in the ceiling, forcing the driver's attention away from the road to locate them.

The Chiron’s power mirror controls are mounted on the door for easy access. The Senna’s power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

The Chiron has standard heated front seats, which keep the driver and front passenger extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated seats aren’t available in the Senna.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the Chiron has standard steering wheel controls for the radio. The Senna doesn’t offer steering wheel audio controls.

Bluetooth wireless connectivity is standard on the Chiron, connecting the driver and passenger’s cell phones to the vehicle systems. This allows them to use the vehicle’s stereo and hand controls to place calls safely and easily. Bluetooth costs extra on the Senna.
