Compare the2023 Bugatti ChironVS 2022 Ferrari F8

2023 Bugatti Chiron
2022 Ferrari F8

Safety

The Chiron has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The F8 doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The Chiron has a standard 360 degree parking monitor to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The F8 only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

The Chiron’s blind spot camera is used to display a wide-angle view of the passenger side of the road. The F8 doesn’t offer a system to reveal objects in the driver’s blind spots.

Both the Chiron and the F8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rear parking sensors.

The Bugatti Chiron weighs 990 to 1234 pounds more than the Ferrari F8. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Engine

The Chiron’s standard 8.0 turbo 16-cylinder produces 768 more horsepower (1479 vs. 711) and 612 lbs.-ft. more torque (1180 vs. 568) than the F8’s 3.9 turbo V8. The Chiron Super Sport’s standard 8.0 turbo 16-cylinder produces 867 more horsepower (1578 vs. 711) and 612 lbs.-ft. more torque (1180 vs. 568) than the F8’s 3.9 turbo V8.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Chiron has 5.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the F8 (26.4 vs. 20.6 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Drivetrain

All wheel drive, available in the Chiron, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Ferrari F8 is not available with all wheel drive.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Chiron’s brake rotors are larger than those on the F8:

Chiron

F8

Front Rotors

16.5 inches

15.7 inches

Rear Rotors

15.7 inches

14.2 inches

The Chiron has standard air brakes, which adjust the spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The F8 doesn’t offer air brakes.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Chiron has larger tires than the F8 (F:285/30R20 & R:355/25R21 vs. F:245/35R20 & R:305/30R20).

The Chiron’s 285/30R20 front and 355/25R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series front and 25 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the F8’s standard 35 series front and 30 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Chiron has standard 21-inch rear wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the F8.

Suspension and Handling

The Chiron has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Chiron’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The F8 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Chiron’s wheelbase is 2.4 inches longer than on the F8 (106.7 inches vs. 104.3 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Chiron is 2.9 inches wider in the front and .6 inches wider in the rear than on the F8.

The Chiron’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (43% to 57%) than the F8’s (41.5% to 58.5%). This gives the Chiron more stable handling and braking.

Ergonomics

The Chiron’s entire steering wheel hub sounds the horn, facilitating hitting the horn in an emergency. The F8 has two small spoke buttons. These buttons can be hard to find and reach in an emergency.

The Chiron’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The F8’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

The Chiron has standard heated front seats, which keep the driver and front passenger extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated seats aren’t available in the F8.

The Chiron’s standard GPS navigation system has a real-time traffic update feature that plots alternative routes to automatically bypass traffic problems. (Service not available in all areas.) The F8’s navigation system doesn’t offer real-time traffic updates.
