Compare the2023 Bugatti ChironVS 2023 Maserati MC20

The Chiron has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The MC20 doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

Both the Chiron and the MC20 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

The Bugatti Chiron weighs 585 to 1092 pounds more than the Maserati MC20. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Chiron’s standard 8.0 turbo 16-cylinder produces 858 more horsepower (1479 vs. 621) and 642 lbs.-ft. more torque (1180 vs. 538) than the MC20’s 3.0 turbo V6. The Chiron Super Sport’s standard 8.0 turbo 16-cylinder produces 957 more horsepower (1578 vs. 621) and 642 lbs.-ft. more torque (1180 vs. 538) than the MC20’s 3.0 turbo V6.

As tested in Car and Driver the Bugatti Chiron 8.0 is faster than the Maserati MC20:

The Chiron has 7.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the MC20 (26.4 vs. 18.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

All wheel drive, available in the Chiron, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Maserati MC20 is not available with all wheel drive.

For better stopping power the Chiron’s brake rotors are larger than those on the MC20:

The Chiron has standard air brakes, which adjust the spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The MC20 doesn’t offer air brakes.

For better traction, the Chiron has larger tires than the MC20 (F:285/30R20 & R:355/25R21 vs. F:245/35R20 & R:305/30R20).

The Chiron’s 285/30R20 front and 355/25R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series front and 25 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the MC20’s standard 35 series front and 30 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Chiron has standard 21-inch rear wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the MC20.

The Chiron has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Chiron’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The MC20 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Chiron is 2.7 inches wider in the front and .5 inches wider in the rear than on the MC20.

The Chiron’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (43% to 57%) than the MC20’s (40% to 60%). This gives the Chiron more stable handling and braking.

The Chiron is 4.9 inches shorter than the MC20, making the Chiron easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Chiron has 6 cubic feet more passenger volume than the MC20 (54 vs. 48).

The Chiron’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The MC20 has neither an oil pressure gauge nor a temperature gauge.

The Chiron’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The MC20’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

The Chiron’s power mirror controls are mounted on the door for easy access. The MC20’s power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.
