2023 Bugatti Chiron
2023 Aston Martin DBS

Safety

The Chiron has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The DBS doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

Both the Chiron and the DBS have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and around view monitors.

Engine

The Chiron’s standard 8.0 turbo 16-cylinder produces 764 more horsepower (1479 vs. 715) and 516 lbs.-ft. more torque (1180 vs. 664) than the DBS’ 5.2 turbo V12. The Chiron Super Sport’s standard 8.0 turbo 16-cylinder produces 863 more horsepower (1578 vs. 715) and 516 lbs.-ft. more torque (1180 vs. 664) than the DBS’ 5.2 turbo V12.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Chiron has 5.3 gallons more fuel capacity than the DBS (26.4 vs. 21.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Transmission and Drivetrain

The Chiron offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The DBS doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

All wheel drive, available in the Chiron, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Aston Martin DBS is not available with all wheel drive.

The Chiron’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The DBS doesn’t offer launch control.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Chiron’s brake rotors are larger than those on the DBS:

Chiron

DBS

Front Rotors

16.5 inches

16.1 inches

Rear Rotors

15.7 inches

14.2 inches

The Chiron has standard air brakes, which adjust the spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The DBS doesn’t offer air brakes.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Chiron has larger tires than the DBS (F:285/30R20 & R:355/25R21 vs. F:265/35R21 & R:305/30R21).

The Chiron’s 285/30R20 front and 355/25R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series front and 25 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the DBS’ standard 35 series front and 30 series rear tires.

Suspension and Handling

The Chiron has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Chiron’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The DBS doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Chiron is 3.3 inches wider in the front and .6 inches wider in the rear than on the DBS.

Chassis

The Chiron is 6.6 inches shorter than the DBS, making the Chiron easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Ergonomics

The Chiron’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The DBS does not have an oil pressure gauge.
