For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Genesis G70 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Dodge Charger 2-Door doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The G70 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Charger doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

The G70 has standard whiplash protection, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the whiplash protection system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Charger doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Both the G70 and Charger have rear cross-traffic warning, but the G70 has Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Charger’s Rear Cross Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the G70 and the Charger have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors, available all-wheel drive and around view monitors.

The G70 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Charger’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the G70 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Dodge covers the Charger. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Charger ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The G70’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Charger’s (7 vs. 5 years).

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the G70 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Dodge doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Charger.

To reliably start during all conditions and help handle large electrical loads, the G70 has a 800-amp battery. The Charger only offers a standard 650-amp battery.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the G70 second among compact premium cars in their 2025 Initial Quality Study. The Charger isn’t in the top three in its category.

For better traction and acceleration, the G70 has larger rear tires than the Charger (255/35R19 vs. 245/55R18).

The G70’s 225/40R19 front and 255/35R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Charger R/T’s standard 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the G70 has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Charger R/T.

The G70 has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Charger; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The G70’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (51% to 49%) than the Charger’s (55.4% to 44.6%). This gives the G70 more stable handling and braking.

For better maneuverability, the G70’s turning circle is 3.7 feet tighter than the Charger Six Pack’s (36.3 feet vs. 40 feet). The G70 AWD’s turning circle is 3.8 feet tighter than the Charger Daytona’s (37.7 feet vs. 41.5 feet).

The Genesis G70 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1050 to 1900 pounds less than the Dodge Charger.

The G70 is 1 foot, 10.1 inches shorter than the Charger, making the G70 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The design of the Genesis G70 amounts to more than styling. The G70 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .29 Cd. That is significantly lower than the Charger (.35) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the G70 get better fuel mileage.

The G70 has .7 inches more front headroom and 1.8 inches more rear headroom than the Charger Four-Door.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the G70’s trunk can be opened just by waiting momentarily behind the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Charger doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The G70’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Charger’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully.

The G70’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Charger offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

Both the Genesis G70 and Dodge Charger offer exterior mirrors that can be folded to provide convenience. The G70 offers available power folding mirrors, which allow for easy, one-touch folding or unfolding at the driver’s discretion. This provides added convenience when maneuvering or parking, as well as when walking past the parked vehicle. In comparison, the Charger’s foldable mirrors are manual, requiring the driver to get out and physically fold them once parked and unfold them before getting in.

The Genesis G70 has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the rear view mirror. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Dodge charges extra for Homelink® on the Charger.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Genesis G70 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Charger.

The G70 is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The Charger doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

According to iSeeCars.com the 2026 Genesis G70 retains 50.98% of its original value after 5 years, more than the 47.49% resale value of the 2026 Dodge Charger after five years, which can save the Genesis’ owner up to $10291 in depreciation.

The G70 was chosen as a Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 2019. The Charger has never been chosen by Car and Driver in their “10Best” issue.
