2026 Maserati MCPura2026 Lamborghini Temerario

Safety

The Lamborghini Temerario has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The MCPura doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Temerario has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The MCPura doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The Temerario’s lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. The MCPura doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

Both the Temerario and MCPura offer rear cross-traffic warning, but the Temerario with Rear Cross Traffic Alert also has Rear Cross Traffic Alert (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The MCPura’s Rear Cross Path doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Temerario and the MCPura have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes, blind spot warning systems and around view monitors.

Warranty

The Temerario comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The MCPura’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The Temerario’s corrosion warranty is 8 years and unlimited miles longer than the MCPura’s (12/unlimited vs. 4/50,000).

Lamborghini pays for scheduled maintenance on the Temerario for 5 years and 75000 miles. Lamborghini will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance (up to 5 visits). Maserati doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the MCPura.

Engine

The Temerario’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 287 more horsepower (908 vs. 621) and 52 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 538) than the MCPura’s standard 3.0 turbo V6. The Temerario’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 277 more horsepower (908 vs. 631) and 52 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 538) than the MCPura GT2 Stradale’s standard 3.0 turbo V6.

As tested in Motor Trend the Lamborghini Temerario is faster than the Maserati MCPura 3.0:

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Temerario running on electricity gets better mileage than the MCPura 3.0 turbo V6 (24 city/24 hwy MPGe vs. 15 city/25 hwy).

The Temerario can travel with zero emissions for 4 miles. The MCPura can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Temerario’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The MCPura doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Temerario has 2.1 gallons more fuel capacity than the MCPura (18 vs. 15.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Lamborghini Temerario higher (5 out of 10) than the Maserati MCPura (4). This means the Temerario produces up to 5.2 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the MCPura every 15,000 miles.

Drivetrain

All-wheel drive, available in the Temerario, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all-wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Maserati MCPura is not available with all-wheel drive.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Temerario’s brake rotors are larger than those on the MCPura:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Temerario has larger tires than the MCPura (F:255/35R20 & R:325/30R21 vs. F:245/35R20 & R:305/30R20).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Temerario has standard 21-inch rear wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the MCPura.

Suspension and Handling

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Temerario is 1.6 inches wider in the front and .8 inches wider in the rear than on the MCPura.

The Temerario’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (43.4% to 56.6%) than the MCPura’s (40% to 60%). This gives the Temerario more stable handling and braking.

Ergonomics

The Temerario’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The MCPura has neither an oil pressure gauge nor a temperature gauge.

The Temerario’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The MCPura’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the Temerario keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The MCPura doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.
