Safety

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Cadillac Vistiq are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The BMW iX3 doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the Vistiq and iX3 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Vistiq has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The iX3’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The Vistiq has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The iX3 doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

A passive infrared night vision system standard on the Vistiq Premium Luxury/Platinum helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The iX3 doesn’t offer a night vision system.

To deliver safety and visibility under dusty conditions the Cadillac Vistiq’s backup monitor has a standard rear washer to keep the view clear. A camera washer system costs extra on the BMW iX3.

Both the Vistiq and the iX3 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all-wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Cadillac Vistiq weighs 1172 pounds more than the BMW iX3. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

Cadillac’s powertrain warranty covers the Vistiq 2 years and 20,000 miles longer than BMW covers the iX3. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the iX3 ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 61 percent more Cadillac dealers than there are BMW dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Vistiq’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Cadillac vehicles are more reliable than BMW vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac above average in long-term dependability. With 20 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, BMW is rated lower.

Engine

The Vistiq’s electric motors produces 152 more horsepower (615 vs. 463) and 174 lbs.-ft. more torque (650 vs. 476) than the iX3’s electric motors.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Vistiq’s brake rotors are larger than those on the iX3:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Vistiq has larger standard tires than the iX3 (285/45R21 vs. 255/45R20). The Vistiq’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the iX3 (305/35R23 vs. 255/40R21).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Vistiq has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 20-inch wheels are standard on the iX3. The Vistiq’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels optional on the iX3.

The Cadillac Vistiq’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The BMW iX3 only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the Vistiq can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The iX3 doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

Suspension and Handling

The Vistiq has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The iX3’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Vistiq has a standard automatic load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The iX3 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Vistiq’s wheelbase is 7.7 inches longer than on the iX3 (121.8 inches vs. 114.1 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Vistiq is 2.7 inches wider in the front and 2.5 inches wider in the rear than on the iX3.

For better maneuverability, the Vistiq Premium Luxury/Platinum’s turning circle is 1.5 feet tighter than the iX3’s (38.2 feet vs. 39.7 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Vistiq has a greater minimum ground clearance than the iX3 (7.2 vs. 6.9 inches), allowing the Vistiq to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Passenger Space

The Vistiq offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the iX3 can only carry 5.

The Vistiq has .3 inches more front headroom, 2.2 inches more front shoulder room, .5 inches more rear headroom and 2.5 inches more rear shoulder room than the iX3.

Cargo Capacity

The Vistiq’s cargo area provides more volume than the iX3.

Towing

The Vistiq’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the iX3’s (5000 vs. 4400 pounds).

Ergonomics

The Vistiq’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The iX3’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Vistiq has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the iX3 only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the Vistiq has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The iX3 doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Vistiq has standard extendable sun visors. The iX3 doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The Vistiq has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the iX3.

The Cadillac Vistiq stands out above the BMW iX3 by offering not one, but two Qi-compatible phone chargers. This convenience helps travelers with multiple devices to keep powered up on-the-go. Wireless charging eliminates lost or cluttered charging cables and two of them provide more flexibility.

The Vistiq has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The iX3 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
