The iX3’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The EV3 doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The BMW iX3 has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The EV3 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The iX3 has a standard PostCrash iBrake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The EV3 doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the iX3. But it costs extra on the EV3.

The BMW iX3’s optional Surround View has integrated front and rear camera washers, ensuring clear, all-weather visibility without the need for manual cleaning. In contrast, the Kia EV3 lacks camera washers, requiring you to manually clean the cameras for optimal performance.

Both the iX3 and the EV3 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The BMW iX3 weighs 718 to 1318 pounds more than the Kia EV3. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The iX3’s corrosion warranty is 7 years and unlimited miles longer than the EV3’s (12/unlimited vs. 5/100,000).

BMW pays for scheduled maintenance on the iX3 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. BMW will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Kia doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the EV3.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that BMW vehicles are more reliable than Kia vehicles. J.D. Power ranks BMW above average in long-term dependability. With 7 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Kia is rated lower.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2026 Auto Issue reports that BMW vehicles are more reliable than Kia vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks BMW 5 places higher in reliability than Kia.

The iX3’s electric motors produces 262 more horsepower (463 vs. 201) and 267 lbs.-ft. more torque (476 vs. 209) than the EV3’s standard electric motor. The iX3’s electric motors produces 202 more horsepower (463 vs. 261) and 192 lbs.-ft. more torque (476 vs. 284) than the EV3’s optional electric motors. The iX3’s electric motors produces 175 more horsepower (463 vs. 288) and 131 lbs.-ft. more torque (476 vs. 345) than the EV3 GT’s standard electric motors.

The iX3’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the EV3 are solid, not vented.

For better traction, the iX3 has larger standard tires than the EV3 (255/45R20 vs. 215/60R17). The iX3’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the EV3 (F:255/40R21 & R:275/40R21 vs. 235/45R19).

The iX3’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the EV3’s standard 60 series tires. The iX3’s optional tires have a lower 35 series profile than the EV3 GT-Line/GT’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the iX3 has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 17-inch wheels are standard on the EV3. The iX3’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 19-inch wheels on the EV3 GT-Line/GT.

The design of the BMW iX3 amounts to more than styling. The iX3 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .24 Cd. That is significantly lower than the EV3 (.275) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the iX3 get better fuel mileage.

The iX3 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The EV3 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The iX3 has .6 inches more front headroom, 2 inches more front shoulder room, .9 inches more rear headroom and 2.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the EV3.

The iX3 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the EV3 with its rear seat up (31.4 vs. 26.1 cubic feet). The iX3 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the EV3 with its rear seat folded (65 vs. 56.5 cubic feet).

A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the iX3. The EV3 doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

Standard Trailer Stabilization Control on the iX3 uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The EV3 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Unlike the driver-only memory seat and mirrors in the EV3 Land/GT-Line/GT, the iX3 has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, power steering assist, outside mirror angle, climate settings and radio stations and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The iX3’s standard Comfort Access allows you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from pocket or purse. Smart Key standard on the EV3 doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear doors.

The iX3’s power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The EV3’s power mirror switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

The iX3’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The EV3 Light/Wind/Land’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the iX3 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The EV3 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

The iX3’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The EV3 offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The BMW iX3 has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors are only offered on the EV3 GT-Line/GT.

The iX3 has standard heated front seats. Heated front seats are only available on the EV3 Wind/Land/GT-Line/GT. The iX3 also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the EV3.

The iX3 offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the EV3.

The BMW iX3 has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the infotainment. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Kia charges extra for Homelink® on the EV3.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the BMW iX3 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Only the EV3 Wind/Land/GT-Line/GT offers wireless charging.
