2027 Tesla Model Y L2027 Bentley Bentayga

Safety

The Bentayga’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Model Y L doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Bentayga are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Model Y L doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Bentayga has standard Active Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Model Y L doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Bentayga’s standard Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The Model Y L doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The Bentayga has Connected Car Services, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Model Y L doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Bentayga helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then projects the image on the windshield, near the driver’s line of sight. The Model Y L doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Bentayga has standard Private eCall, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Model Y L doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Bentayga and the Model Y L have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all-wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Bentley Bentayga weighs 714 to 1226 pounds more than the Tesla Model Y L. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

The Bentayga comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Model Y L’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Bentayga Hybrid’s maximum EPA estimated range on a full tank and a full charge is 475 miles, after which it can be refueled at any gas station in minutes. The Model Y L’s range is only 320 to 325 miles, after which the minimum time to recharge is 15 minutes for only a 50% charge at a specially configured quick charge station not available in most areas.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Bentayga’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Model Y L:

The Bentayga (except Hybrid) offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Model Y L doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Bentayga has larger tires than the Model Y L (285/45R21 vs. 255/45R19).

The Bentayga Speed’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Model Y L’s optional 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Bentayga has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Model Y L. The Bentayga Speed’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the Model Y L.

The Bentayga offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Model Y L; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

Suspension and Handling

The Bentayga has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the Bentayga flat and controlled during cornering. The Model Y L’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

The Bentayga offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Model Y L doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Bentayga uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Model Y L, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Bentayga offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Tesla doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Model Y L.

The Bentayga has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Bentayga’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Model Y L doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Bentayga is 2.1 inches wider in the front and 2.8 inches wider in the rear than on the Model Y L.

For better maneuverability, the Bentayga Speed’s turning circle is 2.4 feet tighter than the Model Y L’s (37.4 feet vs. 39.8 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Bentayga has a 3 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Model Y L (9.7 vs. 6.7 inches), allowing the Bentayga to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Towing

Maximum trailer towing in the Tesla Model Y L is limited to 3500 pounds. The Bentayga offers up to a 7165 lbs. towing capacity.

Ergonomics

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Model Y L, the Bentayga has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Bentayga offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Model Y L doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Bentayga EWB’s optional power side swing out doors make it much easier to load and unload kids and cargo. One touch opens the door, before you even get to the sport utility. The Model Y L doesn’t offer a power rear door.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Bentayga to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Model Y L doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Bentayga has a standard rear wiper. The Model Y L doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Bentayga has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Model Y L doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Bentayga’s standard side window demisters help clear frost or condensation from the side windows in the winter. The Model Y L doesn’t even offer side window demisters, so the driver may have to wipe the windows from the outside to gain side vision.

To better shield the driver and front passenger’s vision, the Bentayga has standard dual-element sun visors that can block glare from two directions simultaneously. The Model Y L doesn’t offer secondary sun visors.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Bentayga has standard extendable sun visors. The Model Y L doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Bentayga to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Model Y L doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Bentley Bentayga has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors are only offered on the Model Y L Premium/Performance.

Optional air conditioned front and rear seats keep the Bentayga’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Model Y L doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats for the second row.

The Bentayga offers optional massaging front and rear seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Model Y L.

The Bentayga is equipped with both FM and AM stereo radios, offering access to more content and better coverage than the Model Y L, which solely provides FM radio. With AM radio, you can enjoy a wider variety of stations featuring news, talk shows, sports commentary, native language programing, automated traffic guidance, and emergency broadcasts. AM waves travel further and penetrate buildings and obstacles more effectively than FM signals, especially at night. Having both FM and AM stereo radios the Bentayga offers a more comprehensive listening experience compared to only FM in the Model Y L.

HD Radio boasts several benefits over conventional radio: superior sound quality with clearer and consistent FM broadcasts, CD-quality audio, and Multicast Channels offering up to four streams from a single station, adding programming choices. Cars like the Bentayga equipped with HD Radio provide an improved in-car entertainment experience. The Model Y L, devoid of this technology, foregoes these benefits. Selecting the Bentley Bentayga empowers drivers to enjoy a more immersive and enjoyable listening experience while on the go.

Compared to the Tesla Model Y L’s traditional radio, the Bentley Bentayga equipped with standard SiriusXM satellite radio provides an unmatched listening experience. Its extensive coverage guarantees consistent, crystal-clear reception across the continental U.S., and access to over 100 channels dedicated to a multitude of genres, including music, news, sports, talk shows, and comedy, many with only limited commercial breaks.

Both the Bentley Bentayga and the Tesla Model Y L have a standard Qi wireless phone charging system in the front seat. To easily keep personal devices charged in the rear seat, without cables tangling and wearing out, the Bentayga also offers an optional wireless charging system in the rear seat. The Model Y L does not.
