Safety

The 12Cilindri’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the Mercedes AMG GT.

Both the 12Cilindri and the Mercedes AMG GT have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems and rearview cameras.

Warranty

The 12Cilindri comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The AMG GT’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the 12Cilindri for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Mercedes doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the AMG GT.

Engine

The 12Cilindri’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 403 more horsepower (819 vs. 416) and 131 lbs.-ft. more torque (500 vs. 369) than the Mercedes AMG GT 43’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The 12Cilindri’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 350 more horsepower (819 vs. 469) than the Mercedes AMG GT 55’s standard 4.0 turbo V8. The 12Cilindri’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 242 more horsepower (819 vs. 577) than the Mercedes AMG GT 63 4MATIC+’s standard 4.0 turbo V8. The 12Cilindri’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 14 more horsepower (819 vs. 805) than the Mercedes AMG GT 63 S E Performance’s standard 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid.

Fuel Economy and Range

The 12Cilindri has 5.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the Mercedes AMG GT (24.3 vs. 18.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Ferrari 12Cilindri higher (5 out of 10) than the Mercedes AMG GT (4). This means the 12Cilindri produces up to 5.2 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Mercedes AMG GT every 15,000 miles.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the 12Cilindri’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the Mercedes AMG GT:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the 12Cilindri has larger tires than the Mercedes AMG GT (F:275/35R21 & R:315/35R21 vs. F:255/45R19 & R:285/40R19).

The 12Cilindri’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Mercedes AMG GT 43’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the 12Cilindri has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Mercedes AMG GT 43.

Suspension and Handling

The 12Cilindri’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (48.4% to 51.6%) than the Mercedes AMG GT’s (54% to 46%). This gives the 12Cilindri more stable handling and braking.

For better maneuverability, the 12Cilindri’s turning circle is 4.1 feet tighter than the Mercedes AMG GT’s (39.1 feet vs. 43.2 feet).

Chassis

The 12Cilindri’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.

Ergonomics

The 12Cilindri’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Mercedes AMG GT does not have an oil pressure gauge.

Model Availability

The Ferrari 12Cilindri comes in coupe and convertible bodystyles; the Mercedes AMG GT isn’t available as a convertible.
