2026 Ferrari Roma
2026 McLaren GTS

Safety

The Roma has standard GPS Response System, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Roma and the McLaren GTS have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

Warranty

Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the Roma for 4 years and unlimited miles longer than McLaren pays for maintenance for the GTS (7/unlimited vs. 3/unlimited).

Reliability

The McLaren GTS’ redline is at 8500 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The Roma has a 7500 RPM redline.

Engine

The Roma’s 3.9 turbo V8 produces 96 lbs.-ft. more torque (561 vs. 465) than the McLaren GTS’ 4.0 turbo V8.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Roma gets better fuel mileage than the McLaren GTS (17 city/22 hwy vs. 15 city/22 hwy).

The Roma has 2.1 gallons more fuel capacity than the McLaren GTS (21.1 vs. 19 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Transmission

An eight-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the Ferrari Roma, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the McLaren GTS.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Roma has larger front tires than the McLaren GTS (245/35R20 vs. 225/35R20).

Suspension and Handling

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Roma is 2.4 inches wider in the rear than on the McLaren GTS.

For better maneuverability, the Roma’s turning circle is 4.3 feet tighter than the McLaren GTS’ (35.4 feet vs. 39.7 feet).

Passenger Space

The Roma has standard seating for 4 passengers; the McLaren GTS can only carry 2.

Ergonomics

The Roma’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the McLaren GTS.

The Roma’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The McLaren GTS does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The Roma’s standard Keyless Entry and Ignition allows you to unlock the doors from either outside door handle, open the trunk, and start the engine, all without removing the key from pocket or purse. Keyless Entry and Lock standard on the McLaren GTS doesn’t offer a sensor on the trunk.

The Roma’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The McLaren GTS’ cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors available for the Roma detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

The Roma’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The McLaren GTS has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Ferrari Roma has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors costs extra on the McLaren GTS.

Standard smartphone integration for the Roma allows the driver and passengers access to select programs on their smartphones, including reading text messages aloud, playing internet radio stations and other connected activities without taking their eyes off the road or their hands from the wheel. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer factory integrated smartphone program access.
