To maximize occupant safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Ferrari Roma have pretensioners to eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision. The Maserati GranCabrio doesn’t offer pretensioners.
Both the Roma and the GranCabrio have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.
The Roma comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The GranCabrio’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.
The Roma’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the GranCabrio’s (unlimited vs. 50,000 miles).
Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the Roma for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Maserati doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the GranCabrio.
The Roma’s 3.9 turbo V8 produces 128 more horsepower (611 vs. 483) and 119 lbs.-ft. more torque (561 vs. 442) than the GranCabrio’s standard 3.0 turbo V6. The Roma’s 3.9 turbo V8 produces 69 more horsepower (611 vs. 542) and 82 lbs.-ft. more torque (561 vs. 479) than the GranCabrio’s optional 3.0 turbo V6.
The Roma has 2.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the GranCabrio (21.1 vs. 18.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.
The Roma has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The GranCabrio doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.
The Roma offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The GranCabrio doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

The Roma has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The GranCabrio doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.
For better maneuverability, the Roma’s turning circle is 5.3 feet tighter than the GranCabrio’s (35.4 feet vs. 40.7 feet).
The Ferrari Roma may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 700 to 1550 pounds less than the Maserati GranCabrio.
The Roma is 11.9 inches shorter than the GranCabrio, making the Roma easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
The Roma has a much larger trunk with its top down than the GranCabrio with its top down (6 vs. 4.6 cubic feet).
The Roma’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The GranCabrio doesn’t offer folding rear seats.
The Roma’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The GranCabrio doesn’t offer an easy entry system.
If the windows are left open on the Roma the driver can close all of them from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the GranCabrio can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.
