Regenerative brakes improve the Panamera’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Ghost doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Panamera’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The Ghost doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The Panamera’s standard fuel tank has 1.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the Ghost (23.7 vs. 21.8 gallons).

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Porsche Panamera higher (4 out of 10) than the Rolls-Royce Ghost (2). This means the Panamera produces up to 15.6 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Ghost every 15,000 miles.

Standard Trailer Stability Management on the Panamera uses the Porsche Stability Management sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Ghost doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The Panamera’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Ghost does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The Panamera’s power window, power lock and power mirror switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Ghost’s power window switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

The Porsche Panamera has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the rear view mirror. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Rolls-Royce charges extra for Homelink® on the Ghost.

The Panamera’s optional Remote ParkAssist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Optional Remote ParkAssist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Ghost’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.

The Panamera is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The Ghost doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
