For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Porsche Panamera are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The BMW 7 Series doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Panamera helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. The Panamera E-Hybrid’s standard fuel tank has 3.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the 7 Series 750e’s standard fuel tank (21.1 vs. 17.2 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The Panamera’s standard fuel tank has 4.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the 7 Series’ standard fuel tank (23.7 vs. 19.5 gallons).

The Panamera has a standard locking fuel door and a locking charge port, which lock and unlock with the power locks. The 7 Series doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank and a locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

The Panamera offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The 7 Series doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

The Porsche Panamera may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 300 to 450 pounds less than the BMW 7 Series.

The Panamera is 1 foot, 1.3 inches shorter than the 7 Series, making the Panamera easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Panamera’s available rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The 7 Series doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.

Standard Trailer Stability Management on the Panamera uses the Porsche Stability Management sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The 7 Series doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Porsche service is better than BMW. J.D. Power ranks Porsche first in service department satisfaction. With a 36% lower rating, BMW is ranked 10th.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Panamera to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The 7 Series doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.
