2027 Volvo EX60
2026 Lucid Motors Gravity

Safety

The EX60’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Gravity doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Volvo EX60’s standard multi-adaptive safety belts scans passenger size, crash angle, speed, and severity and adjusts load-limiters to 11 different settings to prevent head injuries in larger adults, and rib injuries in smaller passengers and less severe crashes. The system even performs over-the-air updates to improve its performance over time. The Gravity only uses fixed-force load-limiters.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the EX60 are reminded to check the back seat when a sensor determines the back seat is occupied. The Gravity doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Volvo EX60 offers optional built in child booster seats. They’re more crash worthy than an added child seat because of their direct attachment to the seat. Lucid Motors doesn’t offer the convenience and security of a built-in child booster seat in the Gravity. Their owners must carry a heavy booster seat in and out of the vehicle; EX60 owners can just fold their built-in child seat up or down.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the EX60’s standard Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The Gravity doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The EX60 has Connected Safety, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Gravity doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from other vehicles.

The EX60 has standard Volvo On Call, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Gravity doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the EX60 and the Gravity have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

The EX60’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Gravity’s (12 vs. 10 years).

There are over 6 times as many Volvo dealers as there are Lucid Motors dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the EX60’s warranty.

Fuel Economy and Range

The EX60 P12 can travel longer on a full charge than the Gravity Touring with its standard motors (400 miles vs. 337 miles).

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the EX60’s turning circle is 1.3 feet tighter than the Gravity w/Rear Steering’s (37.1 feet vs. 38.4 feet).

Chassis

The Volvo EX60 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1000 to 1350 pounds less than the Lucid Motors Gravity.

The EX60 is 9.1 inches shorter than the Gravity, making the EX60 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the EX60 uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Gravity doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Passenger Space

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the EX60’s rear seats recline. The Gravity’s middle row seats don’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the EX60’s liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Gravity doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Towing

Standard Trailer Stability Assist on the EX60 uses the Dynamic Stability and Traction Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Gravity doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Ergonomics

The EX60 has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Gravity doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the EX60 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Gravity doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the EX60 has a standard rear wiper. The Gravity doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The EX60 Ultra has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Gravity doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The EX60’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Gravity has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

Model Availability

The EX60 is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Gravity doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Recommendations

The Volvo EX60/XC60 outsold the Lucid Motors Gravity by over 37 to one during 2025.
