Compare the2027 Volvo EX60VS 2026 Cadillac Optiq

The EX60’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Optiq doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Volvo EX60’s standard multi-adaptive safety belts scans passenger size, crash angle, speed, and severity and adjusts load-limiters to 11 different settings to prevent head injuries in larger adults, and rib injuries in smaller passengers and less severe crashes. The system even performs over-the-air updates to improve its performance over time. The Optiq only uses fixed-force load-limiters.

Both the EX60 and Optiq have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The EX60 has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Optiq’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The Volvo EX60 offers optional built in child booster seats. They’re more crash worthy than an added child seat because of their direct attachment to the seat. Cadillac doesn’t offer the convenience and security of a built-in child booster seat in the Optiq. Their owners must carry a heavy booster seat in and out of the vehicle; EX60 owners can just fold their built-in child seat up or down.

The EX60 has standard Post-impact braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Optiq doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The EX60 has Connected Safety, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Optiq doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from other vehicles.

Both the EX60 and the Optiq have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The EX60’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the Optiq’s (12 vs. 6 years).

Volvo pays for scheduled maintenance on the EX60 for 2 years and 20,000 miles. Volvo will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Cadillac only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Optiq.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2026 Auto Issue reports that Volvo vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Volvo 3 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the EX60 is 1.2 inches wider in the front and 64.6 inches wider in the rear than on the Optiq.

For better maneuverability, the EX60’s turning circle is 2.7 feet tighter than the Optiq’s (37.1 feet vs. 39.8 feet).

For greater off-road capability the EX60 has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Optiq (7 vs. 6 inches), allowing the EX60 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Volvo EX60 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 450 to 550 pounds less than the Cadillac Optiq.

The EX60 has 1.4 inches more front headroom, .1 inches more front legroom, .6 inches more front hip room, 1.9 inches more rear headroom and 2.1 inches more rear hip room than the Optiq.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the EX60’s rear seats recline. The Optiq’s rear seats don’t recline.

The EX60 has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Optiq with its rear seat folded (64.3 vs. 57 cubic feet).

The EX60’s minimum standard towing capacity is much higher than the Optiq’s (3600 vs. 1500 pounds).

While the Optiq V-Series is not recommended to tow, any EX60 can tow a minimum of 3600 pounds.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the EX60 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Optiq doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the EX60 has a standard rear wiper. The Optiq doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The EX60 Ultra has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Optiq doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Optiq Premium/V-Series’ cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The EX60’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

The Volvo EX60/XC60 outsold the Cadillac Optiq by over three to one during 2025.
