The EX60’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Lyriq doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Volvo EX60’s standard multi-adaptive safety belts scans passenger size, crash angle, speed, and severity and adjusts load-limiters to 11 different settings to prevent head injuries in larger adults, and rib injuries in smaller passengers and less severe crashes. The system even performs over-the-air updates to improve its performance over time. The Lyriq only uses fixed-force load-limiters.

The Volvo EX60 offers optional built in child booster seats. They’re more crash worthy than an added child seat because of their direct attachment to the seat. Cadillac doesn’t offer the convenience and security of a built-in child booster seat in the Lyriq. Their owners must carry a heavy booster seat in and out of the vehicle; EX60 owners can just fold their built-in child seat up or down.

The EX60 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Lyriq doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

The EX60 has standard Post-impact braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Lyriq doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The EX60 has Connected Safety, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Lyriq doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from other vehicles.

Both the EX60 and the Lyriq have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The EX60’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the Lyriq’s (12 vs. 6 years).

Volvo pays for scheduled maintenance on the EX60 for 2 years and 20,000 miles. Volvo will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Cadillac only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Lyriq.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2026 Auto Issue reports that Volvo vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Volvo 3 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

For better maneuverability, the EX60’s turning circle is 2.5 feet tighter than the Lyriq’s (37.1 feet vs. 39.6 feet).

For greater off-road capability the EX60 has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Lyriq-V (7 vs. 6.2 inches), allowing the EX60 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Volvo EX60 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 950 pounds less than the Cadillac Lyriq.

The EX60 is 7.6 inches shorter than the Lyriq, making the EX60 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The EX60 has 2.4 inches more front headroom and 2.9 inches more rear headroom than the Lyriq.

The EX60 has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Lyriq with its rear seat folded (64.3 vs. 60.8 cubic feet).

The EX60’s minimum standard towing capacity is much higher than the Lyriq’s (3600 vs. 0 pounds).

The Lyriq’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The EX60’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

The Volvo EX60/XC60 outsold the Cadillac Lyriq by almost two to one during 2025.
