2027 Chevrolet Bolt

Safety

The Fiat 500e has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Bolt doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Both the 500e and the Bolt have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, front parking sensors and rear cross-path warning.

Warranty

The 500e comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Bolt’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The 500e’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Bolt’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

Fuel Economy and Range

The 500e has a standard locking charge port with a power remote release convenient to the driver. The Bolt doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

Tires and Wheels

The 500e’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Bolt’s 50 series tires.

Suspension and Handling

The 500e has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the 500e flat and controlled during cornering. The Bolt’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

For better maneuverability, the 500e’s turning circle is 6.2 feet tighter than the Bolt’s (31.5 feet vs. 37.7 feet).

Chassis

The Fiat 500e may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 800 to 850 pounds less than the Chevrolet Bolt.

The 500e is 2 feet, 2.6 inches shorter than the Bolt, making the 500e easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Cargo Capacity

A low lift-over trunk design makes loading and unloading the 500e easier. The 500e’s trunk lift-over height is 27.4 inches, while the Bolt’s liftover is 30.4 inches.

Ergonomics

The 500e’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Bolt’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Fiat 500e has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Bolt.
