Safety

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the C-HR are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The ID.4 doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Toyota C-HR has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The ID.4 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the C-HR. But it costs extra on the ID.4.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the C-HR’s standard Downhill Assist Control allows you to creep down safely. The ID.4 doesn’t offer Downhill Assist Control.

Both the C-HR and the ID.4 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the C-HR is .6 inches wider in the front and 1.8 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the ID.4.

For greater off-road capability the C-HR has a 1.1 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the ID.4 (8 vs. 6.9 inches), allowing the C-HR to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the C-HR’s rear seats recline. The ID.4’s rear seats don’t recline.

Ergonomics

The C-HR’s standard Smart Key System allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. KESSY Keyless Access standard on the ID.4 doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The C-HR XSE offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The ID.4 doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the C-HR has standard extendable sun visors. The ID.4 doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The Toyota C-HR has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. Power folding mirrors are only offered on the ID.4 Pro S Plus.

The C-HR has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel is only available on the ID.4 Pro S/Pro S Plus.

The C-HR is equipped with both FM and AM stereo radios, offering access to more content and better coverage than the ID.4, which solely provides FM radio. With AM radio, you can enjoy a wider variety of stations featuring news, talk shows, sports commentary, native language programing, automated traffic guidance, and emergency broadcasts. AM waves travel further and penetrate buildings and obstacles more effectively than FM signals, especially at night. Having both FM and AM stereo radios the C-HR offers a more comprehensive listening experience compared to only FM in the ID.4.

HD Radio boasts several benefits over conventional radio: superior sound quality with clearer and consistent FM broadcasts, CD-quality audio, and Multicast Channels offering up to four streams from a single station, adding programming choices. Cars like the C-HR equipped with HD Radio provide an improved in-car entertainment experience. The ID.4, devoid of this technology, foregoes these benefits. Selecting the Toyota C-HR empowers drivers to enjoy a more immersive and enjoyable listening experience while on the go.

The Toyota C-HR stands out above the Volkswagen ID.4 by offering not one, but two Qi-compatible phone chargers. This convenience helps travelers with multiple devices to keep powered up on-the-go. Wireless charging eliminates lost or cluttered charging cables and one of them provide more flexibility.
