Safety

The Outlander Sport has standard Active Front Headrests, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Front Headrests system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The ADX doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Both the Outlander Sport and the ADX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, rear parking sensors and rear cross-path warning.

Warranty

The Outlander Sport comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The ADX’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Mitsubishi’s powertrain warranty covers the Outlander Sport 4 years and 30,000 miles longer than Acura covers the ADX. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the ADX ends after only 6 years or 70,000 miles.

The Outlander Sport’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the ADX’s (7 vs. 5 years).

Mitsubishi pays for scheduled maintenance (up to 3 visits) on the Outlander Sport for 1 year and 18000 miles longer than Acura pays for maintenance for the ADX (2/30,000 vs. 1/12000).

There are over 15 percent more Mitsubishi dealers than there are Acura dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the Outlander Sport’s warranty.

Fuel Economy and Range

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport uses regular unleaded gasoline. The ADX requires premium for maximum efficiency, which can cost on average about 84.9 cents more per gallon.

The Outlander Sport has 1.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the ADX (15.8 vs. 14 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Suspension and Handling

The Outlander Sport has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The ADX’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

Ergonomics

This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The ADX’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

Compared to the Acura ADX, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SEL eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries with its standard integrated Homelink® universal remote controlled from the rear view mirror.

Compared to the Acura ADX’s traditional radio, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport LE/SE/SEL equipped with standard SiriusXM satellite radio provides an unmatched listening experience. Its extensive coverage guarantees consistent, crystal-clear reception across the continental U.S., and access to over 100 channels dedicated to a multitude of genres, including music, news, sports, talk shows, and comedy, many with only limited commercial breaks.
