Safety

Both the F-Pace and GLE Coupe have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The F-Pace has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The GLE Coupe’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The F-Pace’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the GLE Coupe.

The Jaguar F-Pace’s rear backup camera has a standard washer for maintaining a clear view under various conditions. In contrast, the Mercedes GLE Coupe does not offer a rear camera washer, meaning its effectiveness relies on manual cleaning by the user when necessary.

Both the F-Pace and the GLE Coupe have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

The F-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The GLE Coupe’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

The F-Pace’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the GLE Coupe’s (6 vs. 5 years).

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Pace for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Mercedes doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the GLE Coupe.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are better in initial quality than Mercedes vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jaguar fourth in initial quality, above the industry average. With 35 more problems per 100 vehicles, Mercedes is ranked 21st, below the industry average.

Engine

The F-Pace P400’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid produces 20 more horsepower (395 vs. 375) and 37 lbs.-ft. more torque (406 vs. 369) than the GLE Coupe’s 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid. The F-Pace SVR’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 192 more horsepower (567 vs. 375) and 147 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 369) than the GLE Coupe’s 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the F-Pace P250 gets better fuel mileage than the GLE 450 Coupe 4MATIC (22 city/27 hwy vs. 19 city/25 hwy).

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the F-Pace SVR’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the GLE Coupe:

15.6 inches

14.8 inches

Rear Rotors

Tires and Wheels

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the F-Pace can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The GLE Coupe doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

The F-Pace offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the GLE Coupe; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

Chassis

The Jaguar F-Pace may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 600 to 1100 pounds less than the Mercedes GLE Coupe.

The F-Pace is 7.6 inches shorter than the GLE Coupe, making the F-Pace easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The F-Pace uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The GLE Coupe doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Cargo Capacity

The F-Pace has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the GLE Coupe with its rear seat up (32.1 vs. 31.6 cubic feet). The F-Pace has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the GLE Coupe with its rear seat folded (70.4 vs. 64.1 cubic feet).

Towing

A Trailer Stability Assist is standard on the F-Pace, using the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. A trailer sway program costs extra on the GLE Coupe.

Ergonomics

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the F-Pace has a standard rear wiper. The GLE Coupe doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The F-Pace SVR has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The GLE Coupe doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The F-Pace has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the GLE Coupe.

Recommendations

J.D. Power and Associates rated the F-Pace third among compact premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The GLE Coupe isn’t in the top three.
