Safety

Both the F-Pace and X6 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The F-Pace has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The X6’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The Jaguar F-Pace’s rear backup camera has a standard washer for maintaining a clear view under various conditions. In contrast, the BMW X6 does not offer a rear camera washer, meaning its effectiveness relies on manual cleaning by the user when necessary.

Both the F-Pace and the X6 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

The F-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The X6’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Pace for 2 years and 24,000 miles longer than BMW pays for maintenance for the X6 (5/60,000 vs. 3/36,000).

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are better in initial quality than BMW vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jaguar fourth in initial quality, above the industry average. With 21 more problems per 100 vehicles, BMW is ranked 14th, below the industry average.

Engine

The F-Pace SVR’s 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 44 more horsepower (567 vs. 523) than the X6 M60i xDrive’s optional 4.4 turbo V8 hybrid.

Tires and Wheels

The F-Pace offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the X6; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare or run-flat tires, either of which has mileage and speed limitations.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the F-Pace’s turning circle is .2 feet tighter than the X6 M60i xDrive’s (39.2 feet vs. 39.4 feet). The F-Pace SVR’s turning circle is 1.9 feet tighter than the X6’s (39.4 feet vs. 41.3 feet).

For greater off-road capability the F-Pace SVR has a greater minimum ground clearance than the X6 (8.6 vs. 8.5 inches), allowing the F-Pace to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Chassis

The Jaguar F-Pace may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 750 to 1000 pounds less than the BMW X6.

The F-Pace is 7.9 inches shorter than the X6 xDrive40i, making the F-Pace easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The F-Pace uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The X6 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The F-Pace has .4 inches more front headroom, 1 inch more rear headroom and 1.5 inches more rear legroom than the X6.

Cargo Capacity

The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the X6 with its rear seat up (32.1 vs. 27.4 cubic feet). The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the X6 with its rear seat folded (70.4 vs. 59.6 cubic feet).

Ergonomics

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the F-Pace has a standard rear wiper. The X6 doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The F-Pace SVR has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The X6 doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The F-Pace has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the X6.

Recommendations

J.D. Power and Associates rated the F-Pace third among compact premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The X6 isn’t in the top three in its category.
