Safety

The Mercedes AMG GT’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Valhalla doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Mercedes AMG GT offers an optional Post Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Valhalla doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Mercedes AMG GT has standard Close-Range Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Valhalla doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The Mercedes AMG GT has Car-to-X Communication, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Valhalla doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from infrastructure or other vehicles.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Mercedes AMG GT’s standard Rear Cross-Traffic Alert uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side and Rear Cross Traffic Brake automatically engages the brakes to help avoid a collision. The Valhalla doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

Both the Mercedes AMG GT and the Valhalla have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors and available lane departure warning systems.

Warranty

The AMG GT comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Valhalla’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

There are almost 11 times as many Mercedes dealers as there are Aston Martin dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the AMG GT’s warranty.

Engine

The Mercedes AMG GT 63 S E Performance’s standard 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 236 lbs.-ft. more torque (1047 vs. 811) than the Valhalla’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Mercedes AMG GT 63 S E Performance can travel with zero emissions on electricity, only, on a full charge for 11 miles, up to 10% further than the Valhalla‘s -mile range on a full charge and a full tank of fuel. The Valhalla has to start its internal combustion engine after only 9 miles.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Mercedes AMG GT’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The Valhalla doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The Mercedes AMG GT has 1.3 gallons more fuel capacity than the Valhalla (18.5 vs. 17.2 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Transmission

A nine-speed automatic (SMG) is available on the Mercedes AMG GT, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Valhalla.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Mercedes AMG GT CCB’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Valhalla:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Mercedes AMG GT’s optional front tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Valhalla (295/30R20 vs. 285/30R20).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Mercedes AMG GT offers optional 21-inch wheels. The Valhalla’s largest wheels are only 20-inches in the front and 21-inches in the rear.

Suspension and Handling

The Mercedes AMG GT 55/63 offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Aston Martin doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Valhalla.

The Mercedes AMG GT’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Valhalla doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

Chassis

The front grille of the Mercedes AMG GT uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Valhalla doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Cargo Capacity

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Mercedes AMG GT’s trunk can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Valhalla doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its trunk, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Ergonomics

The Mercedes AMG GT has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Valhalla doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Mercedes AMG GT offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, tachometer and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Valhalla doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Mercedes AMG GT’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Valhalla’s

Heated windshield washer fluid is standard on the Mercedes AMG GT to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The Valhalla doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid.

The Mercedes AMG GT has a standard center folding armrest for the driver and front passenger. A center armrest helps combat driver fatigue. The Valhalla doesn’t offer a front seat center armrest.

The Mercedes AMG GT’s Active Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Valhalla doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

Model Availability

The Mercedes AMG GT is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The Valhalla doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
