A spare tire isn’t available on the new SQ5 Sportback; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed. Some tire options on the new SQ5 Sportback don’t have a run-flat feature, either.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Range Rover Velar’s wheelbase is 2.1 inches longer than on the new SQ5 Sportback (113 inches vs. 110.9 inches).

The Land Rover Range Rover Velar may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 100 to 400 pounds less than the Audi new SQ5 Sportback.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Velar has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the new SQ5 Sportback only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

The Range Rover Velar has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the new SQ5 Sportback.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Range Rover Velar third among midsize premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The new SQ5 Sportback isn’t in the top three.
