The AMG GLA’s optional pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Corsair doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The AMG GLA’s standard pretensioning seatbelts also sense rear collisions and remove slack from the seatbelts to help protect the occupants from whiplash and other injuries. The Corsair doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the AMG GLA. But it costs extra on the Corsair.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the AMG GLA’s standard Downhill Speed Regulation allows you to creep down safely. The Corsair doesn’t offer Downhill Speed Regulation.

Both the AMG GLA and the Corsair have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors, available lane departure warning systems and around view monitors.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the AMG GLA third among small premium suvs in their 2025 Initial Quality Study. The Corsair isn’t in the top three in its category.

The AMG GLA’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid produces 52 more horsepower (302 vs. 250) and 20 lbs.-ft. more torque (295 vs. 275) than the Corsair’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The AMG GLA’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid produces 36 more horsepower (302 vs. 266) than the Corsair Grand Touring’s standard 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid.

As tested in Car and Driver the Mercedes AMG GLA is faster than the Lincoln Corsair:

On the EPA test cycle the AMG GLA 35 gets better fuel mileage than the Corsair 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder AWD running its gasoline engine (22 city/30 hwy vs. 21 city/28 hwy).

The AMG GLA has 2.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the Corsair Grand Touring’s standard fuel tank (13.5 vs. 11.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The AMG GLA offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The Corsair doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

For better stopping power the AMG GLA’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Corsair:

The AMG GLA’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Corsair are solid, not vented.

For better traction, the AMG GLA has larger standard tires than the Corsair (235/50R19 vs. 225/60R18). The AMG GLA’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Corsair (255/35R21 vs. 245/45R20).

The AMG GLA’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Corsair Premiere’s standard 60 series tires. The AMG GLA’s optional tires have a lower 35 series profile than the Corsair’s optional 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the AMG GLA has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Corsair Premiere. The AMG GLA’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the Corsair.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the AMG GLA can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Corsair doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the AMG GLA is 1.1 inches wider in the front than on the Corsair.

The AMG GLA 35 handles at .93 G’s, while the Corsair Reserve AWD pulls only .83 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The AMG GLA 35 executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2.5 seconds quicker than the Corsair Premiere AWD (25.2 seconds @ .73 average G’s vs. 27.7 seconds @ .67 average G’s).

The AMG GLA is 6.8 inches shorter than the Corsair, making the AMG GLA easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The AMG GLA has 1.7 inches more front hip room and 6.5 inches more rear hip room than the Corsair.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Corsair, the AMG GLA has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The AMG GLA’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Corsair’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

Heated windshield washer fluid is optional on the AMG GLA to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The Corsair doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid.

When the AMG GLA is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The Corsair’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Mercedes AMG GLA has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the rear view mirror. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Lincoln charges extra for Homelink® on the Corsair.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Mercedes AMG GLA has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Corsair.

The AMG GLA has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Corsair doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
