The CLA 250+ EQ’s standard electric motor produces 86 more horsepower (268 vs. 182) and 26 lbs.-ft. more torque (247 vs. 221) than the Mirai’s electric motor. The CLA 350 4MATIC EQ’s standard electric motors produces 167 more horsepower (349 vs. 182) and 159 lbs.-ft. more torque (380 vs. 221) than the Mirai’s electric motor.

The CLA 250+ EQ’s standard 225/50R17 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Mirai’s standard 55 series tires. The CLA EQ’s optional 225/40R19 front and 255/35R19 rear tires have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile than the Mirai’s 55 series tires.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the CLA EQ can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Mirai doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

For better maneuverability, the CLA EQ’s turning circle is 1.7 feet tighter than the Mirai’s (36.8 feet vs. 38.5 feet).

The CLA EQ is 9.9 inches shorter than the Mirai, making the CLA EQ easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

When three different drivers share the CLA EQ, the memory seats and mirrors make it convenient for all three. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver and front passenger’s seat positions and outside mirror angle. The Mirai doesn’t offer a memory system.

The CLA EQ’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The Mirai doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The CLA EQ’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Mirai XLE’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the CLA EQ offers optional cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Mirai doesn’t offer cornering lights. The CLA EQ also offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

When the CLA EQ is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The Mirai’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

The CLA EQ’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Mirai has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

On extremely cold winter days, the CLA EQ’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The Mirai doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

The CLA EQ offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Mirai.
