Safety

The MCPura offers an optional Surround View System to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Corvette only offers a rear monitor and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the front or sides.

The MCPura has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the Corvette’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the MCPura has standard Rear Cross Path, helping the driver avoid collisions. Chevrolet charges extra for Rear Cross Traffic Alert on the Corvette.

Both the MCPura and the Corvette have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras and available crash mitigating brakes.

Warranty

The MCPura comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Corvette’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

Reliability

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the engines in the MCPura have an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of some of the engines in the Corvette.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the MCPura gets better mileage than the Corvette:

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Maserati MCPura higher (4 out of 10) than the Chevrolet Corvette (2 to 4). This means the MCPura produces up to 15.6 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Corvette every 15,000 miles.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the MCPura’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the Corvette:

Tires and Wheels

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the MCPura has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch front wheels are standard on the Corvette.

Suspension and Handling

The MCPura Coupe handles at 1.08 G’s, while the Corvette Coupe pulls only 1.03 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The MCPura Cielo handles at 1.05 G’s, while the Corvette Convertible pulls only .96 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The MCPura Cielo executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.3 seconds quicker than the Corvette Convertible (23.2 seconds @ .88 average G’s vs. 24.5 seconds @ .78 average G’s).

Ergonomics

The MCPura’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the Corvette.

If the windows are left open on the MCPura the driver can close all of them from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Corvette can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The MCPura’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Corvette’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

The Maserati MCPura has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors costs extra on the Corvette.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the MCPura has a standard Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The Corvette doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

The Maserati MCPura has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the rear view mirror. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Chevrolet charges extra for Homelink® on the Corvette.
