Both the Urus and LX have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Urus has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The LX’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

An active infrared night vision system optional on the Urus helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera and near-infrared lights to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The LX doesn’t offer a night vision system.

For better protection of the passenger compartment, the Urus uses safety cell construction with a three-dimensional high-strength frame that surrounds the passenger compartment. It provides extra impact protection and a sturdy mounting location for door hardware and side impact beams. The LX uses a body-on-frame design, which has no frame members above the floor of the vehicle.

Both the Urus and the LX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

Warranty

The Urus comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The LX’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The Urus’ corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the LX’s (12 vs. 6 years).

Lamborghini pays for scheduled maintenance (up to 5 visits) on the Urus for 4 years and 65000 miles longer than Lexus pays for maintenance for the LX (5/75000 vs. 1/10,000).

Engine

The Urus’ 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 380 more horsepower (789 vs. 409) and 111 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 479) than the LX 600’s standard 3.4 turbo V6. The Urus’ 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 332 more horsepower (789 vs. 457) and 7 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 583) than the LX 700h’s standard 3.4 turbo V6 hybrid.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Urus running on electricity gets better mileage than the LX:

On the EPA test cycle the Urus SE running its gasoline engine gets better fuel mileage than the LX 600 3.4 turbo V6 (19 city/21 hwy vs. 17 city/22 hwy).

The Urus SE can travel with zero emissions for 35 miles. The LX can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

The Urus has 3 gallons more fuel capacity than the LX 700h’s standard fuel tank (20.9 vs. 17.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Urus’ brake rotors are larger than those on the LX:

The Urus has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The LX doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Urus has larger standard tires than the LX (F:285/45R21 & R:315/40R21 vs. 265/55R20). The Urus’ optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the LX (F:285/35R23 & R:325/30R23 vs. 265/55R20).

The Urus’ standard 285/45R21 front and 315/40R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the LX 700h Overtrail’s standard 70 series tires. The Urus’ optional 285/35R23 front and 325/30R23 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the LX’s optional 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Urus has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the LX 700h Overtrail. The Urus’ optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels optional on the LX.

Suspension and Handling

For superior ride and handling, the Lamborghini Urus has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The Lexus LX has a solid rear axle, with a non-independent rear suspension.

The Urus has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the Urus flat and controlled during cornering. The LX base model’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

The Urus has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The LX doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Urus uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the LX, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Urus S/SE offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Lexus doesn’t offer an active suspension on the LX.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Urus’ wheelbase is 6 inches longer than on the LX (118.2 inches vs. 112.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Urus is .7 inches wider in the front and 1.2 inches wider in the rear than on the LX.

The Urus Performante handles at 1.04 G’s, while the LX 600 F Sport Handling pulls only .75 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Urus Performante executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 6.3 seconds quicker than the LX 700h Overtrail (23.1 seconds @ .87 average G’s vs. 29.4 seconds @ .56 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Urus’ turning circle is .7 feet tighter than the LX’s (38.7 feet vs. 39.4 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Urus has a 1.9 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the LX (9.8 vs. 7.9 inches), allowing the Urus to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Urus’ minimum ground clearance is 1.7 inches higher than on the LX Luxury/Ultra Luxury/F Sport (9.8 vs. 8.1 inches).

Chassis

The Urus is 9.7 inches shorter in height than the LX, making the Urus much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

Unibody construction lowers the Urus’ center of gravity significantly without reducing ground clearance. This contributes to better on the road handling and better off-road performance and stability. In addition, unibody construction makes the chassis stiffer, improving handling and reducing squeaks and rattles. The LX doesn’t use unibody construction, but a body-on-frame design.

Cargo Capacity

The Urus has a much larger cargo volume than the LX with its rear seat up (21.8 vs. 11 cubic feet).

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the Urus easier. The Urus’ cargo hatch lift-over height is 30 inches, while the LX 700h Overtrail’s liftover is 31 inches. The LX’s liftover is 31.6 inches.

The Urus’ standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The LX Ultra Luxury doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.

Ergonomics

The LX’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The Urus’ standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.
