Safety

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Lamborghini Urus have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The BMW X6 M doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Lamborghini Urus are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The BMW X6 M doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the Urus and X6 M have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Urus has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The X6 M’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

An active infrared night vision system optional on the Urus helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera and near-infrared lights to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The X6 M doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Urus and the X6 M have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

Warranty

The Urus comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The X6 M’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

Lamborghini pays for scheduled maintenance (up to 5 visits) on the Urus for 2 years and 39000 miles longer than BMW pays for maintenance for the X6 M (5/75000 vs. 3/36,000).

Engine

The Urus’ 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 172 more horsepower (789 vs. 617) and 37 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 553) than the X6 M’s 4.4 turbo V8 hybrid.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Urus SE running on electricity gets better mileage than the X6 M (46 city/50 hwy MPGe vs. 13 city/18 hwy).

On the EPA test cycle the Urus SE running its gasoline engine gets better fuel mileage than the X6 M (19 city/21 hwy vs. 13 city/18 hwy).

The Urus SE can travel with zero emissions for 35 miles. The X6 M can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Urus’ brake rotors are larger than those on the X6 M:

Urus

X6 M

Front Rotors

17.3 inches

15.6 inches

Rear Rotors

16.1 inches

15 inches

The Urus has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The X6 M doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

Tires and Wheels

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Urus offers optional 23-inch wheels. The X6 M’s largest wheels are only 21-inches in the front and 22-inches in the rear.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Urus’ wheelbase is 1.2 inches longer than on the X6 M (118.2 inches vs. 117 inches).

For better maneuverability, the Urus’ turning circle is 3.3 feet tighter than the X6 M’s (38.7 feet vs. 42 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Urus has a 1.4 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the X6 M (9.8 vs. 8.4 inches), allowing the Urus to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Passenger Space

The Urus has 1.6 inches more front headroom, 1.2 inches more front legroom, .5 inches more rear headroom and 4.3 inches more rear legroom than the X6 M.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Urus’ rear seats recline. The X6 M’s rear seats don’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

The Urus’ liftgate lifts up in one piece, completely out of the way of loading and unloading, while sheltering the cargo loading area. The X6 M’s tailgate’s top part raises up, but the bottom part lowers, getting in the way of loading and making an uneven surface for sliding cargo.

Towing

The Urus has a 7716 lbs. towing capacity. The X6 M has no towing capacity.

Ergonomics

The Urus’ instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The X6 M does not have an oil pressure gauge.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Urus offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The X6 M doesn’t offer headlight washers.
