Safety

The Lamborghini Temerario has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The 911 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Temerario. But it costs extra on the 911.

Both the Temerario and the 911 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

Warranty

The Temerario comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The 911’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

Lamborghini pays for scheduled maintenance (up to 5 visits) on the Temerario for 4 years and 65000 miles longer than Porsche pays for maintenance for the 911 (5/75000 vs. 1/10,000).

Engine

The Temerario’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 520 more horsepower (908 vs. 388) and 259 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 331) than the 911’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The Temerario’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 435 more horsepower (908 vs. 473) and 200 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 390) than the 911 S’ standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The Temerario’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 406 more horsepower (908 vs. 502) and 259 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 331) than the 911 GT3’s standard 4.0 DOHC 6-cylinder. The Temerario’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 268 more horsepower (908 vs. 640) than the 911 Turbo S’ standard 3.7 turbo 6-cylinder.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Temerario has 1.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the 911’s standard fuel tank (18 vs. 16.6 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Lamborghini Temerario higher (5 out of 10) than the Porsche 911 (4). This means the Temerario produces up to 5.2 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the 911 every 15,000 miles.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Temerario’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the 911:

Temerario

911

Front Rotors

16.1 inches

13.8 inches

Rear Rotors

15.4 inches

13.8 inches

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Temerario has larger tires than the 911 (F:255/35R20 & R:325/30R21 vs. F:235/40R19 & R:295/35R20).

The Temerario’s 255/35R20 front and 325/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 911 Dakar’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Temerario has standard 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. Smaller 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are standard on the 911.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Temerario’s wheelbase is 8.1 inches longer than on the 911 (104.6 inches vs. 96.5 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Temerario is 5 inches wider in the front and 4.1 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the 911.

The Temerario’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (43.4% to 56.6%) than the 911’s (39.5% to 60.5%). This gives the Temerario more stable handling and braking.
