Safety
Warranty
The Roma comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The AMG GT’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.
Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the Roma for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Mercedes doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the AMG GT.
Engine
The Roma’s 3.9 turbo V8 produces 195 more horsepower (611 vs. 416) and 192 lbs.-ft. more torque (561 vs. 369) than the Mercedes AMG GT 43’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The Roma’s 3.9 turbo V8 produces 142 more horsepower (611 vs. 469) and 45 lbs.-ft. more torque (561 vs. 516) than the Mercedes AMG GT 55’s standard 4.0 turbo V8. The Roma’s 3.9 turbo V8 produces 34 more horsepower (611 vs. 577) than the Mercedes AMG GT 63 4MATIC+’s standard 4.0 turbo V8.
Fuel Economy and Range
The Roma has 2.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the Mercedes AMG GT (21.1 vs. 18.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.
The Roma has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.
Environmental Friendliness
In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Ferrari Roma higher (5 out of 10) than the Mercedes AMG GT (4). This means the Roma produces up to 5.2 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Mercedes AMG GT every 15,000 miles.
Tires and Wheels
The Roma’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Mercedes AMG GT 43’s 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Roma has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Mercedes AMG GT 43.
Suspension and Handling
For better maneuverability, the Roma’s turning circle is 5.8 feet tighter than the Mercedes AMG GT’s (35.4 feet vs. 41.2 feet).
Chassis
The Ferrari Roma may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 750 pounds less than the Mercedes AMG GT.
Cargo Capacity
The Roma’s standard folding rear seats are split to accommodate bulky cargo. The Mercedes AMG GT’s standard single piece folding rear seat is not as flexible; long cargo and a passenger can’t share the rear seat.
Ergonomics
The Roma’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Mercedes AMG GT does not have an oil pressure gauge.
The Roma has a standard center folding armrest for the rear passengers. A center armrest helps make rear passengers more comfortable and it can provide a boundary between children. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer a rear seat center armrest.
