For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Chevrolet Blazer EV are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The MINI Countryman SE doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Chevrolet Blazer EV achieved a “Good” rating - the highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The MINI Countryman SE has not been tested.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV comes with a standard HD Surround Vision and it also offers an optional rear camera washer to make backing always safe, regardless of road dirt or grime, while the MINI Countryman SE doesn’t offer a camera washer, requiring manual cleaning.

Both the Blazer EV and the Countryman SE have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available front parking sensors and driver alert monitors.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV weighs 421 to 1142 pounds more than the MINI Countryman SE. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Chevrolet’s powertrain warranty covers the Blazer EV 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than MINI covers the Countryman SE. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Countryman SE ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 27 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are MINI dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Blazer EV’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are better in initial quality than MINI vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in initial quality. With 40 more problems per 100 vehicles, MINI is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than MINI vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in long-term dependability. With 33 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, MINI is rated lower.

The Blazer EV SS’ optional electric motors produces 307 more horsepower (615 vs. 308) and 286 lbs.-ft. more torque (650 vs. 364) than the Countryman SE’s electric motors.

As tested in Car and Driver the Blazer EV SS electric motors is faster than the MINI Countryman SE:

On the EPA test cycle the Blazer EV gets better mileage than the Countryman SE 19-inch wheels (102 city/86 hwy vs. 94 city/88 hwy MPGe).

For better traction, the Blazer EV has larger standard tires than the Countryman SE (255/60R19 vs. 225/55R18). The Blazer EV RS’ tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Countryman SE (275/45R21 vs. 245/45R19).

The Blazer EV’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Countryman SE’s optional 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Blazer EV LT has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Countryman SE. The Blazer EV’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 19-inch wheels optional on the Countryman SE.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The MINI Countryman SE only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Blazer EV has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Countryman SE doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Blazer EV can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Countryman SE doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Blazer EV’s wheelbase is 15.8 inches longer than on the Countryman SE (121.8 inches vs. 106 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Blazer EV is 3.7 inches wider in the front and 3.8 inches wider in the rear than on the Countryman SE.

The Blazer EV SS handles at .89 G’s, while the Countryman SE pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For greater off-road capability the Blazer EV SS has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Countryman SE (7.5 vs. 7.4 inches), allowing the Blazer EV to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Blazer EV’s minimum ground clearance is .5 inch higher than on the Countryman SE (7.9 vs. 7.4 inches).

The Blazer EV has .2 inches more front headroom, 3.8 inches more front legroom, 3 inches more front shoulder room, .7 inches more rear headroom, 3.8 inches more rear legroom and 3.5 inches more rear shoulder room than the Countryman SE.

The Blazer EV has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Countryman SE with its rear seat up (25.5 vs. 24.8 cubic feet). The Blazer EV has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Countryman SE with its rear seat folded (59.1 vs. 56.2 cubic feet).

A Trailer Sway Control is standard on the Blazer EV, using the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. A trailer sway program costs extra on the Countryman SE.

The Blazer EV’s standard Keyless Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, unlock the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Comfort Access standard on the Countryman SE doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Blazer EV has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the Countryman SE only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Blazer EV has standard extendable sun visors. The Countryman SE doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Both the Blazer EV and the Countryman SE offer available heated front seats. The Blazer EV also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Countryman SE.

Standard air-conditioned seats in the Blazer EV RS/SS keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Countryman SE doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

Compared to the MINI Countryman SE, the Chevrolet Blazer EV RS/SS eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries with its standard integrated Homelink® universal remote controlled from the infotainment system.

The Blazer EV is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Countryman SE doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Motor Trend selected the Blazer EV as their 2024 Sport Utility of the Year. The Countryman SE has never been chosen.
