Both the Vistiq and CX-90 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Vistiq has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The CX-90’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The Vistiq has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The CX-90 doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

A passive infrared night vision system standard on the Vistiq Premium Luxury/Platinum helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The CX-90 doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Cadillac Vistiq’s rear backup camera has a standard washer for maintaining a clear view under various conditions. In contrast, the Mazda CX-90 does not offer a rear camera washer, meaning its effectiveness relies on manual cleaning by the user when necessary.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Vistiq has standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Rear Cross Traffic Braking, systems which detect vehicles approaching from the sides and can automatically apply the brakes to prevent a collision. Only the CX-90 Premium Plus/Turbo S offers Rear Cross Traffic Braking.

Both the Vistiq and the CX-90 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Cadillac Vistiq weighs 1083 to 1480 pounds more than the Mazda CX-90. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Vistiq comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck. The CX-90’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

Cadillac’s powertrain warranty covers the Vistiq 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Mazda covers the CX-90. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the CX-90 ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Vistiq’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the CX-90’s (6 vs. 5 years).

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Cadillac vehicles are better in initial quality than Mazda vehicles. With 25 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Cadillac higher than Mazda.

The Vistiq’s electric motors produces 335 more horsepower (615 vs. 280) and 318 lbs.-ft. more torque (650 vs. 332) than the CX-90’s standard 3.3 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid. The Vistiq’s electric motors produces 292 more horsepower (615 vs. 323) and 281 lbs.-ft. more torque (650 vs. 369) than the CX-90 PHEV’s standard 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid. The Vistiq’s electric motors produces 275 more horsepower (615 vs. 340) and 281 lbs.-ft. more torque (650 vs. 369) than the CX-90 Turbo S’ standard 3.3 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid.

As tested in Car and Driver the Cadillac Vistiq is faster than the Mazda CX-90:

On the EPA test cycle the Vistiq gets better mileage than the CX-90 PHEV running on electricity (93 city/78 hwy vs. 53 city/61 hwy MPGe).

The Vistiq can travel with zero emissions on a full charge for 300 miles. The CX-90 PHEV has to start its internal combustion engine after only 27 miles.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Cadillac Vistiq higher (10 out of 10) than the Mazda CX-90 (5 to 6). This means the Vistiq produces up to 19.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the CX-90 every 15,000 miles.

For better stopping power the Vistiq’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the CX-90:

The Vistiq’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the CX-90 are solid, not vented.

For better traction, the Vistiq has larger standard tires than the CX-90 (285/45R21 vs. 265/55R19). The Vistiq’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the CX-90 (305/35R23 vs. 275/45R21).

The Vistiq’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the CX-90 Select’s standard 55 series tires. The Vistiq’s optional tires have a lower 35 series profile than the CX-90 Preferred/Premium/Turbo S’ 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Vistiq has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the CX-90 Select. The Vistiq’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 21-inch wheels on the CX-90 Preferred/Premium/Turbo S.

The Cadillac Vistiq’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Mazda CX-90 only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the Vistiq can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The CX-90 doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

The Vistiq has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The CX-90’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Vistiq has a standard automatic load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The CX-90 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The Vistiq Sport executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the CX-90 Premium Plus (26.6 seconds @ .71 average G’s vs. 27.5 seconds @ .64 average G’s).

The Vistiq uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The CX-90 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

As tested by Car and Driver while cruising at 70 MPH, the interior of the Vistiq Sport is quieter than the CX-90 Premium Plus (67 vs. 68 dB).

The Vistiq has 4 cubic feet more passenger volume than the CX-90 (145.6 vs. 141.6).

The Vistiq has 1.2 inches more front headroom, 1.4 inches more front legroom, 1.3 inches more front hip room, 3.8 inches more front shoulder room, .8 inches more rear legroom, 1.8 inches more rear hip room, 1.6 inches more rear shoulder room, 2.7 inches more third row headroom, .2 inches more third row legroom and 1 inch more third row shoulder room than the CX-90.

The Vistiq’s cargo area provides more volume than the CX-90.

Pressing a switch automatically lowers the Vistiq’s second row seats and pressing a switch automatically lowers the third row seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The CX-90 doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

The Vistiq’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the CX-90’s (5000 vs. 3500 pounds).

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the CX-90 Preferred/Premium, the Vistiq has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

If the windows are left open on the Vistiq the driver can close all of them from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the CX-90 can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Vistiq’s standard Keyless Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Advanced Keyless Entry and Start standard on the CX-90 doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The Cadillac Vistiq has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors are only offered on the CX-90 Premium/Turbo S.

The Vistiq has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel is only available on the CX-90 Preferred/Premium.

The Vistiq has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the CX-90.

The Cadillac Vistiq has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the infotainment. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Homelink® is only available on the CX-90 Premium.

Compared to traditional radio, the Cadillac Vistiq’s standard SiriusXM satellite radio provides an unmatched listening experience. Its extensive coverage guarantees consistent, crystal-clear reception across the continental U.S., and access to over 100 channels dedicated to a multitude of genres, including music, news, sports, talk shows, and comedy, many with only limited commercial breaks. Satellite radio is only offered on the CX-90 Premium.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Cadillac Vistiq has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console for two separate devices. Only the CX-90 Preferred/Premium offers wireless charging.
