Safety

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the LS. But it costs extra on the Taycan.

The Lexus LS’ rear backup camera has a standard washer for maintaining a clear view under various conditions. In contrast, the Porsche Taycan does not offer a rear camera washer, meaning its effectiveness relies on manual cleaning by the user when necessary.

Both the LS and the Taycan have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

Lexus’ powertrain warranty covers the LS 2 years and 20,000 miles longer than Porsche covers the Taycan. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Taycan ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 20 percent more Lexus dealers than there are Porsche dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the LS’ warranty.

Reliability

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the LS’ reliability 16 points higher than the Taycan.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Lexus vehicles are better in initial quality than Porsche vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Lexus first in initial quality, above the industry average. With 22 more problems per 100 vehicles, Porsche is ranked 12th.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Lexus vehicles are more reliable than Porsche vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Lexus first in reliability, above the industry average. With 46 more problems per 100 vehicles, Porsche is ranked 8th.

Engine

The LS’ 3.4 turbo V6 produces 14 more horsepower (416 vs. 402) and 140 lbs.-ft. more torque (442 vs. 302) than the Taycan Performance Battery’s standard electric motor. The LS’ 3.4 turbo V6 produces 14 more horsepower (416 vs. 402) and 11 lbs.-ft. more torque (442 vs. 431) than the Taycan 4 Performance Battery’s standard electric motors. The LS’ 3.4 turbo V6 produces 133 lbs.-ft. more torque (442 vs. 309) than the Taycan Performance Battery Plus’ standard electric motor.

Transmission

For more complete vehicle control the LS has a manually controlled automatic, with the available convenience of an automatic transmission and the complete gear control of a manual transmission without the inconvenience of a clutch. A manually controlled automatic allows the driver to eliminate unwanted shifts and maximize engine braking by down shifting while cornering. The Taycan doesn’t offer a transmission that allows complete gear control.

A 10-speed automatic is standard on the Lexus LS, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a 2-speed automatic is available for the Taycan.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the LS has larger tires than the Taycan (245/45R20 vs. 225/55R19).

The LS’ tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Taycan’s standard 55 series front tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the LS has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Taycan.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the LS can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Taycan doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the LS’ wheelbase is 8.8 inches longer than on the Taycan (123 inches vs. 114.2 inches).

Chassis

For excellent aerodynamics, the LS has standard flush composite headlights. The Taycan has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The LS uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Taycan doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the LS a Mid-size car, while the Taycan is rated a Compact.

The LS has 8.6 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Taycan (97.6 vs. 89).

The LS has 2.4 inches more front shoulder room, 6.7 inches more rear legroom and 3.2 inches more rear shoulder room than the Taycan.

Cargo Capacity

With its sedan body style, valet key and remote trunk release lockout, the LS offers cargo security. The Taycan’s non-lockable folding seat and non-lockable remote release defeat cargo security.

Ergonomics

If the windows are left open on the LS the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. (This window function must be activated by your Lexus service department.) The driver of the Taycan can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The LS’ power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Taycan’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Consumer Reports rated the LS’ headlight performance “Very Good,” a higher rating than the Taycan’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The LS has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Taycan doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the LS has standard extendable sun visors. The Taycan doesn’t offer extendable visors.

A power rear sunshade is standard in the LS to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Taycan doesn’t offer a rear sunshade.

Economic Advantages

According to iSeeCars.com the 2025 Lexus LS retains 51.31% of its original value after 5 years, significantly more than the 40.88% resale value of the 2025 Porsche Taycan after five years, which can save the Lexus’ owner up to $19648.31953 in depreciation.
