In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Buick Enclave achieved a “Good” rating - the highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Cadillac Vistiq has not been tested.

Both the Enclave and the Vistiq have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive, front parking sensors and driver alert monitors.

The Buick Enclave achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2026 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated moderate overlap front crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, pedestrian crash prevention testing, and vehicle-to-vehicle crash prevention testing. The Vistiq has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2026.

Warranty

There are over 31 percent more Buick dealers than there are Cadillac dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the Enclave’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Buick vehicles are better in initial quality than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Buick above average in initial quality. With 17 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Buick vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Buick second in reliability, above the industry average. With 26 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is ranked fifth.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2026 Auto Issue reports that Buick vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Buick 10 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Enclave has a standard locking fuel door, which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Vistiq doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank and a locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

Tires and Wheels

The Enclave has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Vistiq; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

Suspension and Handling

The Enclave Avenir handles at .83 G’s, while the Vistiq Sport pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For greater off-road capability the Enclave Avenir has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Vistiq (7.3 vs. 7.2 inches), allowing the Enclave to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Chassis

The Buick Enclave may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1600 to 1800 pounds less than the Cadillac Vistiq.

The front grille of the Enclave uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Vistiq doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Passenger Space

The Enclave has 1.7 inches more front headroom, 1.2 inches more front legroom, 1.2 inches more front hip room, 1.2 inches more front shoulder room, 1 inch more rear headroom, 1.3 inches more rear legroom, 1.2 inches more rear hip room, 2.4 inches more rear shoulder room, 1.5 inches more third row legroom, 7.4 inches more third row hip room and 3.5 inches more third row shoulder room than the Vistiq.

The Enclave’s cargo area provides more volume than the Vistiq.

Model Availability

The Enclave is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Vistiq doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Recommendations

The Buick Enclave outsold the Cadillac Vistiq by over five to one during 2025.
