The ID.BUZZ’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Both the ID.BUZZ and Blazer EV have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The ID.BUZZ has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Blazer EV’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The ID.BUZZ has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The ID.BUZZ has Car2X, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems

Both the ID.BUZZ and the Blazer EV have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The ID.BUZZ comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire van. The Blazer EV’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The ID.BUZZ’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Blazer EV’s (7/100,000 vs. 6/100,000).

Volkswagen pays for scheduled maintenance on the ID.BUZZ for 2 years and 20,000 miles. Volkswagen will pay for cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Chevrolet only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Blazer EV.

The ID.BUZZ has a standard locking charge port which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Blazer EV doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

For better stopping power the ID.BUZZ’s standard front brake rotors are larger than those on the Blazer EV:

The ID.BUZZ’s 235/50R20 front and 265/45R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series front and 45 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Blazer EV LT’s standard 60 series tires.

For better load carrying, ride, handling and brake cooling the ID.BUZZ has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Blazer EV LT.

The ID.BUZZ has variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the ID.BUZZ’s wheelbase is 5.7 inches longer than on the Blazer EV (127.5 inches vs. 121.8 inches).

The ID.BUZZ’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (49.7% to 50.3%) than the Blazer EV’s (55% to 45%). This gives the ID.BUZZ more stable handling and braking.

For better maneuverability, the ID.BUZZ’s turning circle is 2.3 feet tighter than the Blazer EV’s (37.4 feet vs. 39.7 feet).

The ID.BUZZ offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the Blazer EV can only carry 5.

The ID.BUZZ has .7 inches more front hip room, .4 inches more front shoulder room, 2.9 inches more rear headroom, 1 inch more rear legroom, 11 inches more rear hip room and 3.4 inches more rear shoulder room than the Blazer EV.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the ID.BUZZ’s middle and third row seats recline. The Blazer EV’s rear seats don’t recline.

The ID.BUZZ’s minimum standard towing capacity is much higher than the Blazer EV’s (2600 vs. 1500 pounds).

Unlike the driver-only memory seat and mirrors in the Blazer EV RS/SS, the ID.BUZZ has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The ID.BUZZ’s standard sliding doors can be opened with less than three inches side clearance. The Blazer EV’s standard rear swing-out doors are bulky and make loading in tight spots difficult.

The ID.BUZZ’s power side sliding doors make it much easier to load and unload kids and cargo. One touch opens the door, before you even get to the van. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer a power rear door.

The ID.BUZZ’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Blazer EV’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the ID.BUZZ to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the ID.BUZZ has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer cornering lights. The ID.BUZZ also has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the ID.BUZZ to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The ID.BUZZ’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Chevrolet charges extra for heated mirrors on the Blazer EV.

The Volkswagen ID.BUZZ has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors costs extra on the Blazer EV.

The ID.BUZZ has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Blazer EV.

The ID.BUZZ has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Blazer EV.

The ID.BUZZ has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning is only available on the Blazer EV RS/SS.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Volkswagen ID.BUZZ has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) on the dashboard. Wireless charging costs extra on the Blazer EV.

The ID.BUZZ has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the rear seat, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The ID.BUZZ was chosen as a Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 2025. The Blazer EV has never been chosen by Car and Driver in their “10Best” issue.
