The Vanquish has standard Autonomous Emergency Braking, which use forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The McLaren GTS doesn't offer collision warning or crash mitigation brakes.

The Vanquish’s lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The Vanquish has a standard Surround View System to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The McLaren GTS only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

The Vanquish’s blind spot warning system uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer a system to reveal objects in the driver’s blind spots.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Vanquish’s standard Rear Cross Traffic Assist uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

The Vanquish’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Vanquish and the McLaren GTS have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

The Aston Martin Vanquish weighs 849 to 1058 pounds more than the McLaren GTS. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The McLaren GTS’ redline is at 8500 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The Vanquish has a 7000 RPM redline.

The Vanquish’s 5.2 turbo V12 produces 198 more horsepower (824 vs. 626) and 273 lbs.-ft. more torque (738 vs. 465) than the McLaren GTS’ 4.0 turbo V8.

The Vanquish has 2.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the McLaren GTS (21.6 vs. 19 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Aston Martin Vanquish, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the McLaren GTS.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Vanquish has standard 21-inch wheels. Only 20-inch front wheels are available on the McLaren GTS.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Vanquish’s wheelbase is 8.3 inches longer than on the McLaren GTS (113.6 inches vs. 105.3 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Vanquish is .6 inches wider in the front and 2.1 inches wider in the rear than on the McLaren GTS.

The Vanquish’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (51% to 49%) than the McLaren GTS’ (42.5% to 57.5%). This gives the Vanquish more stable handling and braking.

The Vanquish uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Vanquish’s cruise control switch is lit from behind, making it plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The McLaren GTS’ cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the Vanquish detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

The Vanquish’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The McLaren GTS’ power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

The Aston Martin Vanquish has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors costs extra on the McLaren GTS.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the Vanquish keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

On extremely cold winter days, the Vanquish’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Vanquish has a standard Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

Standard smartphone integration for the Vanquish allows the driver and passengers access to select programs on their smartphones, including reading text messages aloud, playing internet radio stations and other connected activities without taking their eyes off the road or their hands from the wheel. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer factory integrated smartphone program access.

The Aston Martin Vanquish has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the rear view mirror. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. McLaren charges extra for Homelink® on the McLaren GTS.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Aston Martin Vanquish has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the front center console. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

The Aston Martin Vanquish comes in coupe and convertible bodystyles; the McLaren GTS isn’t available as a convertible.
