The McLaren Artura has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The 911 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Both the Artura and the 911 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems and around view monitors.

The Artura comes with a full 5-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The 911’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

McLaren pays for scheduled maintenance (up to 3 visits) on the Artura for 2 years and 17000 miles longer than Porsche pays for maintenance for the 911 (3/27000 vs. 1/10,000).

The Artura’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 303 more horsepower (691 vs. 388) and 200 lbs.-ft. more torque (531 vs. 331) than the 911’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The Artura’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 218 more horsepower (691 vs. 473) and 141 lbs.-ft. more torque (531 vs. 390) than the 911 S’ standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The Artura’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 189 more horsepower (691 vs. 502) and 200 lbs.-ft. more torque (531 vs. 331) than the 911 GT3’s standard 4.0 DOHC 6-cylinder. The Artura’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 51 more horsepower (691 vs. 640) than the 911 Turbo S’ standard 3.7 turbo 6-cylinder.

As tested in Car and Driver the McLaren Artura is faster than the Porsche 911 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder (automatics tested):

The Artura can travel with zero emissions for 21 miles. The 911 can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

The Artura has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The 911 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

For better stopping power the Artura’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the 911:

The Artura’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 911 Dakar’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

The Artura has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The 911 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Artura’s wheelbase is 7.4 inches longer than on the 911 (103.9 inches vs. 96.5 inches). The Artura’s wheelbase is 7.2 inches longer than on the 911 GT3 (103.9 inches vs. 96.7 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Artura is 2.2 inches wider in the front and 1.9 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the 911.

The Artura’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (41.9% to 58.1%) than the 911’s (39.5% to 60.5%). This gives the Artura more stable handling and braking.

The Artura Coupe handles at 1.08 G’s, while the 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupe pulls only 1.03 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Artura’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The 911 doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.

As tested by Car and Driver, the interior of the Artura Coupe is quieter than the 911 GT3:

The Artura Coupe has a larger trunk than the 911 Coupe with its rear seat up (5.3 vs. 4.8 cubic feet).

With its coupe body style and remote trunk release lockout, the Artura offers cargo security. The 911’s non-lockable folding seat defeats cargo security.

In case of a sudden change of weather, the Artura Convertible has a standard remote convertible top that can be raised from a distance to protect the interior of the vehicle from damage. On a hot day the Artura Convertible has a standard remote opening feature, to lower the top from outside. The 911 doesn’t offer a remote top, so the driver will have to run to the car, get in, turn the ignition on and raise the top to prevent the interior from being damaged.

The Artura has standard Keyless Entry and Lock that allows you to unlock the doors from either outside door handle and start the car, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. The 911 GT3 doesn’t offer Comfort Access.
