Safety

The MC20 has standard SOS and Assist Call, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Vanquish doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the MC20 and the Vanquish have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available crash mitigating brakes and around view monitors.

Warranty

The MC20 comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Vanquish’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

There are almost 3 times as many Maserati dealers as there are Aston Martin dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the MC20’s warranty.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the MC20 3.0 turbo V6 gets better fuel mileage than the Vanquish (15 city/25 hwy vs. 13 city/21 hwy).

The MC20 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Vanquish doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Maserati MC20 higher (4 out of 10) than the Aston Martin Vanquish (2). This means the MC20 produces up to 15.6 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Vanquish every 15,000 miles.

Transmission

The MC20 offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The Vanquish doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the MC20’s turning circle is 3 feet tighter than the Vanquish’s (38.7 feet vs. 41.7 feet).

Chassis

The Maserati MC20 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 800 to 950 pounds less than the Aston Martin Vanquish.

The MC20 is shorter than the Vanquish, making the MC20 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces:

The MC20’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The Vanquish doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.

Servicing Ease

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the MC20 to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Aston Martin doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Vanquish.

Ergonomics

The MC20 has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Vanquish doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The MC20’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The Vanquish doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The MC20’s standard rear view mirror and optional side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Vanquish has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.
