Compare the2025 Lexus LXVS 2025 Infiniti QX80

2025 Lexus LX
2025 Infiniti QX80

Safety

The LX has a standard Secondary Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The QX80 doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the LX. But it costs extra on the QX80.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the LX’s standard CRAWL Control allows you to creep down safely. The QX80 doesn’t offer CRAWL Control.

Both the LX and QX80 have rear cross-traffic warning, but the LX has Parking Support Brake (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The QX80’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the LX and the QX80 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

There are over 23 percent more Lexus dealers than there are Infiniti dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the LX’s warranty.

Reliability

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the LX’s reliability 35 points higher than the QX80.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Lexus vehicles are better in initial quality than Infiniti vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Lexus above average in initial quality. With 13 more problems per 100 vehicles, Infiniti is rated lower.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Lexus vehicles are more reliable than Infiniti vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Lexus first in reliability, above the industry average. With 84 more problems per 100 vehicles, Infiniti is ranked 22nd.

Engine

The LX 700h’s standard 3.4 turbo V6 hybrid produces 7 more horsepower (457 vs. 450) and 67 lbs.-ft. more torque (583 vs. 516) than the QX80’s 3.5 turbo V6.

As tested in Car and Driver the LX 600 3.4 turbo V6 is faster than the Infiniti QX80:

Regenerative brakes improve the LX 700h’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The QX80 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The LX has a standard locking fuel door. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the QX80. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

Transmission

A 10-speed automatic is standard on the Lexus LX, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a nine-speed automatic is available for the QX80.

Brakes and Stopping

The LX stops shorter than the QX80:

Tires and Wheels

The LX has a standard full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the QX80; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the LX’s turning circle is .6 feet tighter than the QX80’s (39.4 feet vs. 40 feet).

Chassis

The Lexus LX may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 150 to 300 pounds less than the Infiniti QX80.

The LX is 10.7 inches shorter than the QX80, making the LX easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

As tested by Car and Driver while under full throttle, the interior of the LX 600 F Sport Handling is quieter than the QX80 Autograph AWD (73 vs. 77 dB).

Servicing Ease

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Lexus service is better than Infiniti. J.D. Power ranks Lexus second in service department satisfaction. With a 19% lower rating, Infiniti is ranked 7th.

Ergonomics

The LX’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The QX80 does not have an oil pressure gauge.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The LX has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The QX80 doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the LX has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The QX80 doesn’t offer cornering lights.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the LX to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The QX80 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Both the Lexus LX and the Infiniti QX80 have a standard Qi wireless phone charging system in the front seat. To easily keep personal devices charged in the second row seat, without cables tangling and wearing out, the LX Ultra Luxury also has a standard wireless charging system in the second row seat. The QX80 does not.

The LX 700h’s Advanced Park can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The QX80 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
