Environmental Friendliness
In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Land Rover Discovery Sport higher (6 out of 10) than the Porsche Cayenne Coupe (2 to 4). This means the Discovery Sport produces up to 27.7 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Cayenne Coupe every 15,000 miles.
Transmission
A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Land Rover Discovery Sport, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Cayenne Coupe.
Tires and Wheels
The Discovery Sport has a standard full size spare (not available on 7-Passenger) so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Cayenne Coupe; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which has mileage and speed limitations, or roadside assistance and a tow-truck.
Suspension and Handling
For greater off-road capability the Discovery Sport has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupe (8.4 vs. 8.2 inches), allowing the Discovery Sport to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.
Chassis
The Land Rover Discovery Sport may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 700 to 1500 pounds less than the Porsche Cayenne Coupe.
The Discovery Sport is 1 foot, 1.1 inches shorter than the Cayenne Turbo GT, making the Discovery Sport easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
The design of the Land Rover Discovery Sport amounts to more than styling. The Discovery Sport has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .34 Cd. That is lower than the Cayenne Coupe (.34 to .35). A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Discovery Sport get better fuel mileage.
Passenger Space
The Discovery Sport offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the Cayenne Coupe can only carry up to 5.
The Discovery Sport has 1.3 inches more front headroom and .4 inches more rear headroom than the Cayenne Coupe.

The Discovery Sport has a higher maximum payload capacity than the Cayenne Coupe (1670 vs. 1501 lbs.).
Ergonomics
The Discovery Sport has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. The Cayenne Coupe doesn’t offer a remote starting system.
On a hot day the Discovery Sport’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Cayenne Coupe can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.
To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Discovery Sport has a standard rear wiper. The Cayenne Coupe doesn’t offer a rear wiper.
