The SF90 has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.
Both the SF90 and the McLaren GTS have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.
Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the SF90 for 4 years and unlimited miles longer than McLaren pays for maintenance for the GTS (7/unlimited vs. 3/unlimited).
The SF90’s standard 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 360 more horsepower (986 vs. 626) and 125 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 465) than the McLaren GTS’ 4.0 turbo V8. The SF90 XX Stradale’s standard 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 392 more horsepower (1018 vs. 626) and 128 lbs.-ft. more torque (593 vs. 465) than the McLaren GTS’ 4.0 turbo V8.
On the EPA test cycle the SF90 XX Stradale running on electricity gets better mileage than the McLaren GTS (45 city/44 hwy MPGe vs. 15 city/22 hwy).
The SF90 XX Stradale can travel with zero emissions for 8 miles. The McLaren GTS can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.
Regenerative brakes improve the SF90’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.
An eight-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the Ferrari SF90, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the McLaren GTS.
All wheel drive, available in the SF90, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The McLaren GTS is not available with all wheel drive.

For better traction, the SF90 has larger tires than the McLaren GTS (F:255/35R20 & R:315/30R20 vs. F:225/35R20 & R:295/30R21).
For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the SF90 is .6 inches wider in the front and 1.3 inches wider in the rear than on the McLaren GTS.
The SF90’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (45% to 55%) than the McLaren GTS’ (42.5% to 57.5%). This gives the SF90 more stable handling and braking.
The SF90’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.
The SF90’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the McLaren GTS.
The SF90’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The McLaren GTS does not have an oil pressure gauge.
The SF90 has a standard heads-up display that projects speed in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer a heads-up display.
The SF90’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The McLaren GTS’ cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.
While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the SF90 detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.
The SF90’s power mirror controls are mounted on the door for easy access. The McLaren GTS’ power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.
The Ferrari SF90 has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors costs extra on the McLaren GTS.
To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the SF90 has a standard Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.
Standard smartphone integration for the SF90 allows the driver and passengers access to select programs on their smartphones, including reading text messages aloud, playing internet radio stations and other connected activities without taking their eyes off the road or their hands from the wheel. The McLaren GTS doesn’t offer factory integrated smartphone program access.
The Ferrari SF90 has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the rear view mirror. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. McLaren charges extra for Homelink® on the McLaren GTS.
The Ferrari SF90 comes in coupe and convertible bodystyles; the McLaren GTS isn’t available as a convertible.
The Ferrari SF90 outsold the McLaren GTS by over three to one during 2024.
