The GranTurismo Folgore has standard Automated Emergency Braking, which use forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The Huracán doesn't offer collision warning or crash mitigation brakes.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The GranTurismo Folgore has standard Rear Emergency Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Huracán doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the GranTurismo Folgore. But it costs extra on the Huracán.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s optional lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. The Huracán doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s optional blind spot warning system uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. The Huracán doesn’t offer a system to reveal objects in the driver’s blind spots.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the GranTurismo Folgore’s optional Rear Cross Path uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The Huracán doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s optional driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Huracán doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the GranTurismo Folgore and the Huracán have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore weighs 1582 to 2030 pounds more than the Lamborghini Huracán. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

The GranTurismo Folgore comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Huracán’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

There are over 2 times as many Maserati dealers as there are Lamborghini dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GranTurismo Folgore’s warranty.

Engine

The GranTurismo Folgore’s electric motors produces 149 more horsepower (751 vs. 602) and 583 lbs.-ft. more torque (996 vs. 413) than the Huracán Sterrato’s standard 5.2 DOHC V10. The GranTurismo Folgore’s electric motors produces 121 more horsepower (751 vs. 630) and 553 lbs.-ft. more torque (996 vs. 443) than the Huracán Evo’s optional 5.2 DOHC V10. The GranTurismo Folgore’s electric motors produces 120 more horsepower (751 vs. 631) and 579 lbs.-ft. more torque (996 vs. 417) than the Huracán STO’s standard 5.2 DOHC V10.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the GranTurismo Folgore gets better mileage than the Huracán Coupe:

The GranTurismo Folgore can travel with zero emissions for 233 miles. The Huracán can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the GranTurismo Folgore’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Huracán doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore higher (10 out of 10) than the Lamborghini Huracán (1). This means the GranTurismo Folgore produces up to 58.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Huracán every 15,000 miles.

Brakes and Stopping

In an emergency stopping situation, many drivers don’t press the brakes with enough force to stop the vehicle in the shortest distance. The GranTurismo Folgore has a standard Brake Assist System to detect emergency braking situations (by how hard and how quickly the brake pedal is pressed) and then automatically apply maximum braking immediately in order to help prevent a collision. The Huracán doesn’t offer a brake assist feature.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the GranTurismo Folgore has larger tires than the Huracán (F:265/30R20 & R:295/30R21 vs. F:235/40R19 & R:285/40R19). The GranTurismo Folgore’s front tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Huracán (265/30R20 vs. 245/30R20).

The GranTurismo Folgore’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Huracán Sterrato’s standard 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the GranTurismo Folgore has standard 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Huracán. The Huracán’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

Suspension and Handling

The front and rear suspension of the GranTurismo Folgore uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Huracán, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The GranTurismo Folgore has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The GranTurismo Folgore’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Huracán doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GranTurismo Folgore’s wheelbase is 12.2 inches longer than on the Huracán Technica Coupe (115.3 inches vs. 103.1 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the GranTurismo Folgore is 1.1 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the Huracán.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the Huracán’s (43% to 57%). This gives the GranTurismo Folgore more stable handling and braking.

Passenger Space

The GranTurismo Folgore has standard seating for 4 passengers; the Huracán can only carry 2.

The GranTurismo Folgore has 43 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Huracán (89 vs. 46).

Cargo Capacity

The GranTurismo Folgore has a much larger trunk than the Huracán Coupe (9.5 vs. 3.5 cubic feet).

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the GranTurismo Folgore’s trunk can be opened just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The GranTurismo Folgore also offers an optional power trunk, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button or just by kicking your foot under the back bumper. The Huracán doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening trunk.

Servicing Ease

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the GranTurismo Folgore to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Lamborghini doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Huracán.

Ergonomics

When three different drivers share the GranTurismo Folgore, the memory system makes it convenient for all three. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver and front passenger’s seat positions, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle, climate settings and radio stations. The Huracán doesn’t offer a memory system.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Huracán’s power windows’ switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Huracán’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the GranTurismo Folgore detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The Huracán doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the GranTurismo Folgore offers optional cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Huracán doesn’t offer cornering lights. The GranTurismo Folgore also offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the GranTurismo Folgore has standard extendable sun visors. The Huracán doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The Huracán’s visors are fixed into the windshield header.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Huracán offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the GranTurismo Folgore keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Huracán doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

On extremely cold winter days, the GranTurismo Folgore’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The Huracán doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the GranTurismo Folgore offers an optional Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The Huracán doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the GranTurismo Folgore has standard steering wheel controls for the radio. The Huracán doesn’t offer steering wheel audio controls.

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the driver’s visor. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Lamborghini charges extra for Homelink® on the Huracán.
